I mastered politician back when it used up skill points. I dropped it when another guild member wanted to try it out. Now days it no longer takes skill points and I thought it was be a nice if SOE would give that profession back based on the badge I have that says "...has mastered politician."

I'm sure this isn't high on many people's want list but wouldn't it be nice?

It would be, but I don't think it's something we'll see. It would take a fair amount of developer time that could be spent fixing bugs and such that I don't see them setting aside.

Well, just call this a dev induced bug, then - and ask them to fix it.

I too, was a Master Politician for months. My city eventually drifted away (many left the game) and only after months later did I drop some of my Politician skills to pick up some useful Marksman xp.

Well.. soon afterwards two troubling changed occurred, Politician skillswere set to no longer requireskill points - and my rifle skills werenerfed beyone usefulness. What gives?Thenerfed me twice -no three times- Politicians no longer get automatic votes from Citizens, so since another city has asked me to be mayor it's going to take forever to get my Master Poltician title back.

Remember when they nerfed mounts - and you could visita trainer in town who would trade your useless mount for one you could use? Why not do that for this issue?

If a player shows a Mastered Politician badge, all the devs would have to do is add a option to the Politician Trainer to see that and offerthem a "Politician in Good Standing" certificate... for a nominal _donation_... this would work in Role Playing and would make a fairly easy fix that has been done for other situations that the Devs created.

Three nerfs... i think that is worth addressing, don't you?

If it's necessary for you to have politician skills, gain it the normal way.

They did and they did it when it took a LOT more commitment to do so. Respect to the politicians of old.

Pilot has never taken skills and then had a major change like that. Anyway to my knowledge if you wish to regain pilot skills after an dropping a mastery you get an exp bonus and can reachieve it faster.

However if you are actively running a city with real alive people it doesn't take that long to get the exp. I do think mastering politicianback in the day deserves a lot of respect though, the 15 skill points for novice alone used to pain me greatly. Anyway just as someone who has been a politician pre and post skill point cost I have much respect for those old masters.

I do as well, but not all those who were Masters back in the day gave it up and continue to be Masters today. They deserve no less recognition.

Granting the skills to those who had it before is a nice sentiment, but the only way it would happen would be to pull developers away from something else.

Well saying that master poli's from the old deserve to get it back now that it is not worth skill points is not really fair. I was one that stuck it out. Why should the ones that stuck it out not get rewards for actually doing it?

The one problem i see in this game is people getting rewarded for coming to the game but not for sticking around (vet rewards are not really a big prize to me). We all make choices in the game and in life that we wish we could change. This is one that maybe you wish you could go back in change. But please let the devs fix what needs to be fixed and just put the effort in to get the master skill yourself.

Yes, they did it when it took a commitment of skill points, but I think the major point here is that nothing is preventing them from doing it again. If they made the choice to drop it then, it's no different than dropping any other profession. If I drop my Master Freelance Pilot skills--which also take 0 skill points--to pursue another pilot class, I'm not allowed to get those skills granted back if I want to go back to it later.

It's something that's not impossible to do, but it would require a system to grant it to be developed. I ask again, do those former Politicians *really* want to see development time taken away from bug fixes that affect the entire profession just so they don't have to work their way back up? And if they do...are they brave enough to post that here?

I would cast my vote against this idea, not to deny someone who worked rather hard and sacrificed much playtime and skillpoints being a master politician, but for the way that every "fix" the devs make creates 3+ more problems for them to fix. I'm REAL sorry, now-ex-Master Politicians, but please grind back up, for the sake of avoiding the seemingly careless mistakes they make when they try to fix stuff. Please.

I was a master politician before they took the SP away. I still think its the absolute worst thing that has happened to our proffesion. None the less i think it would cheapen it even more if you mastered it once, you could drop it and re-gain it as often as you want, even if it doesn't take sp any more.

I fall into the category of having mastered Politician before the SP change, dropping the profession and the office for a time, and then entering office again with no Politician skills. I've since mastered Politician again.

If you are becoming mayor of an already established city with most structures (shuttle, cloner, etc) placed, there's no rush to grab those skills. You can be a functional mayor with the0124 skills which gives you the ability to manage your miltia, place terminals, place trainers, and place gardens and decorations.

If you are becoming mayor of a new city...then you can grow with the city much like most mayors do.

It may take a little time to get back to Master Politician but, since there are no more SP requirements, once you have it you won't need to drop it....ever.
