3 Weeks per election is a long time, people foprget to vote its only natural.

Now after last election just gone with a town of 28 citizens i got 15 votes.

Now im sharpening my pointy sticks, sending out mails and preparing the bailiffs cos im determined to get the full citizen count to vote this term.

What methods do you take to get your citizens to remember to vote? What works best?

I haggle the citizens the sae way, but this poast elections I got the best turn out ebcause I sent personal e-mails to citizens rather than guild/city wide ones. I got 34 votes out of 99 ( some haven't been on in like a year or two, lol) .

Why like every politician, I buy them. I pay 30-50k if someone votes. That gets most to do it, and most don't take the money. It is the point of offering cash that gets the citizens to realize how important it is. It also helps to remind them that the city wont get any better until you get better XP.

I send out a mass email every week to goose them ... then point out, the more votes, the more points, the more I train, the more city goodies they get to make their lives simpler (trainers, facilities, terminals etc.), make their city prettier to look at, and also that 2 min's of their time is not going to kill them to do something that in the long term is to their advantage. Also point out I wouldnt be bugging them in emails if they voted ... I think they like the last reason the most

Works pretty well frankly.

I'm doing something similar. I'm paying 100k per vote. And they have to email me when they vote. That way I can tell who I should remind each week, and who I should pay at the end of the voting cycle.

Never really worked with my city. Maybe my mails were a bit too angry sounding.

I have taken to grooming a corps of politican in my city, I allow maybe 4 to run against me and we all vote fo each other as a way to encourage voting and allowing them to get exp. It works, albiet very horribly slowly.

I send out mails to remind people to vote but I have never and will never bribe them or buy votes.

If they decide not to vote then all well and good - I'll just not stand for re-election if they can't be bothered.

We have a city of 75 people (55 active) and only 6 can be bothered to vote - they all want me to wave my magic wand though and make the city work!

Well I've had it with their apathy and I'm going back to being an entertainer.

To: citizens

From: Your mayor

Re: City Employee Strike

Dear concerned citizens of our fair city. Because of low voter turn out, wage increasesfor our specialty trainers were not approved. They have gone on strike, and will not be available till the new bill passes. The next bill will also contain park/recs department employee salary increases. Sadly, if theirs is not voted in, the gardens will fall apart.

Get out and vote! The voting terminal is located in the guild hall you walk past every day when you come and go.

Sincerely,

Your Mayor.

yeah...I am an Imperial.

I use roleplay, in emails and with barker droids and even barking vendors. Angika, my mayor alt, benifits from master merchant. Consider some of the following:

"Imperial security droids have been placed by the voting terminal for your safety, and your correct vote."

"A vote for Angika is a vote for the Empire."

"The only legal choice for mayor."

I can't forget the vendor, Patsey, near the voting terminal who says, "I better vote for Angika, like the stormtrooper said."

A little roleplay for flavor can go a long way. You improve the Star Wars feeling, they vote for you. A well thought out propaganda campaign is always a good thing. Use of player event perks and even live support can liven up any city (Pex and the event team are great). The tools are there, use them.

well in a nation whose r/l elections only garner 50% or less of registered voters, your numbers seem about right.

Most folks dont care about elections unless its affects them directly (bout the only time I see large turnouts is if the city is under takeover threat, and even then its not easy)

All you can do is keep chasing them and hope
