Thread: Planet Purge can we get a response here?

Abandoned Houses, ghost towns, burning factories.....

This problem is so wide spread over every single server I cannot even begin to imagine why we have not yet had our Planet Purge. You would think that every effort would be made to help out new players and remaining ones instead of *hoping* that those that left return someday. This issue is frustrating and disappointing to every mayor who is starting a city out with active members because chances are you will find your planet capped and unable to increase your city rank. This punishment tothe players who have remained and are active and disappoints the newer SWG players who want to experience being a Mayor of a new city. It limits the ability of those who are active to enjoy the full city experience!

Needless to say I am irrate over this lack of attention to an issue that SOE knows exists and is basically ignoring. I saw where Tiggs posted to keep an eye on the Development forum for news about a purge and have been waiting endlessly it seems for any tidbit of info. I would love to see a complete answer from someone in development about this but frankly I doubt if we are even on their priority list. Every day I amazed by the amount of bugs within this game and upset at seeing how EQ2 is upgraded and fixed in a much quicker manner then SWG is. I adore SWG and do not intend to leave but I will make an effort to express how disappointed I am by the numerous issues that never seem to be resolved (Such as the Tailoring factories which are *Still* broken after the *fix*).

It seems the bug reports I send in every morning do not get a response but as soon as I report a plat farmer or an exploit that gets a response within 24 hours. Why can we not get an answer to a problem that has been here for over 6 months now? Why must we continually "wait and see" when it is past due time for you to fix this and respond to the players who have remained active SWG members instead of catering to those that left?

I know this is proudly pointless and a vain attempt to get an answer but can someone with correct information respond to us here with a complete answer instead of the "Wait and See"?

It is my understanding that the purge system is essentially ready to go, but they are working on developing a system to give proper notification to those who would be affected. That's the last I've heard.

On a side note, /bug reports never get replied to. Reporting a harassment or filing a Customer Service ticket are on a completely different system and do get replies.

This is what I don't understand. How can you notify inactive/cancelled people when they are....CANCELLED! If they choose a safe number, let's say 6 months, then it shouldnt be a big deal. Besides, all it will do is store their houses in their datapad. It's not like they will lose any of their material things. When they get back they will find that they still have all of their possessions.

The purge should not affect inactive people that are currently still paying for their accounts (because they are still paying).

The purge should target cancelled accounts that have been inactive for at least 6 months.

First they came for the Jedi and I did not speak out because I was not a Jedi.
Then they came for the Bounty Hunters and I did not speak out because I was not a Bounty Hunter.
Then they came for the crafters and I did not speak out because I was not a crafter.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Ok a few things on this issue. First and foremost I suspect SOE is waiting to see how many more players will drop their accounts since the game population has been in a downward spiral for months. Second, when you register for the game and subscribe to SWG or any SOE game they have your email on file and thusly can notify current and past players. Lastly we still do not know the consquences of packing up a house deed and what occurs when the deed runs out of maintenance in your data pad. Does that home that is packed up get condemned? Will you be able to add maintenance to it and revive said deed?

Do we really have a downward spiral in subscriptions? The Eclipse server seems more alive than ever!

I believe subcriptions are up actually, but it says he plays bria, and since they get free char. thransfers to diferant server, people may just be changing servers, or just playing on didfferant servers with differant chars.

But then i dont like many of the new players, too man 1337 d00ds who dont know how easy they have it.

I sure wish they would hurry up, my city has over 120 people and we are trying to redo the central part of the city, but there are Known houses and a coulpe PAs that people are not in the game for almost a year, they take up very important space in our city. If I drop 60 or more citizens because of purge , so what, we will survive. just bring on the purge.

My city has been waiting for over 6 months now to get level 4, and we have over 100 citizens. The time for new and growing cities has come. Ghost cities should go poof and let the new cities level up. I hope the devs don't give them a "grace period". I say pack up the inactive houses and let them fight for a city level like everyone else.

As for the population decline, I don't think that has happened on Shadowfire. In fact, I think population is UP! A year ago I would go into Theed or any other big city and it would be empty. Now, at any given time, there are dozens of people at most big cities. If you are looking for a growing server, Shadowfire has certainly done that.

There is no reason to wait for this.

If someone cancells their account and a year later they come back and find all their stuff gone, then its their fault for not maintining their subscription.

The fact thatthey ran out of maintenance should not be the problem for the rest of the server.

The new worry-free maintenance rule that almost killed the architect profession isnt meant to preserve the assets of dead accounts.

It's more than likely that they wont come back anyway...only a small percentage of my friends that cancelled came back, like 1 out of 50.

I'm sure that when we get word, it'll be shouted from the rooftops. We've been waiting a long time for this.
