Thread: Dead Houses and Packing them up
I know this is an on going issue among the Mayors of cities and have been following what is being said here on the forums. I decided to start a new tread for the reason that this has more to do with something else kind of but I have not seen brought up yet.
This deals with the dead cantinas, theaters and hospitals in the cities. I don't keno if anyone have realized it yet but these do not have the abilities to be packed up and placed in storage in a data pad. These buildings need to be taken care of too.
We have a cantina in our city that the player has not been seen in at least 6 months if not longer! I use to pay maintance not this cantina but have decided not to do so any longer. I don't want to see me paying on the maintance and maintaining a cantina that can disappear on me. I have also emptied the cantina and put everything in storage.
My question now is will something be done with these buildings as well if they ever pack up the dead houses? Anyone know this?
/agree serla
however, consider this, there are several structures in your city which belongs to other people who are long gone, but you have admin rights (as in your cantina case), and you dont want them all disappear at once because given theminus growth in galaxy population, you'd have a very hard time replacing them.
I think a total purge would hurt a lot of cities. Instead, mayors should be allowed remove/store idle houses/sturctures.
I know that would bring a lot of issues like "what if the owner is back" or "what will happen to items inside" etc..but technically, there can be solutions to this ... but..im at work atm,and the big bad shark called "boss" is around..so /discuss ![]()
i think i made my point ![]()
One idea I had on the issue is, that with the house pack-up, and expand it to all structures that can be redeeded, if anyone is an admin of the structure(yes factories and harvs count too), that admin would be able to initiate the pack-up feature and said structure would go into the owners datapad.
You can even go one step further in that to pack a house in a city that has zoning rights, the packer would have to be granted zoning to complete the option.
This really wouldn't help for some structures, but usually in a large city or guild, there are people who are on the admin list of cantinas and such.
I know that as admins you can't destroy another players structure, but you aren't destroying it you are packing it, to the owners datapad, so they still have everything, they just have to drop it again. If you think about it as an admin you can take or destroy everything in the house, that is just another privalige that the owner granted you when they gave you admin, and they trust you with the function.
To answer the original question, those structures would be included in the Structure Purge when it comes. ANY structure still standing from an account that has not been paid on for at least 6 months will be rolled up into that player's datapad.
That said, I have no idea when we'll see that system. From what was said at Fan Fest, I know that it's basically ready to go and it's a matter of determining a way of notifying everyone who will be affected by it. We also know that there will be ample notice to Player Cities so that they can prepare ahead of time for structures that may be packed up.
Something I've always done is to keep my own citizenship list in a notebook I keep by my computer. That way I can keep track of those player's I haven't seen in awhile and maintain an actual count of my citizenship. So while my in-game list shows 90 citizens, I know that only 86 of them are currently active. When I'm planning, I go with the 86 number rather than the 90 number.

keep a written ledger of citizens is something I have done even before I became a mayor.

You can keep an eye on the citizens list on the city hall terminal thingy....just go and have a look once a week and update accordingly...
Send everyone in your city a one credit bank tip. If they log on, you'll get an email saying that they got the tip. I used to do that once a month for my guild.
