Soo many cities have become ghostcities and mayor (including me) strive to do their best with the remaining citizens.
I have an idea. If would be fun if a Mayor could declare his city as a ghost town (thus spawning all kinds of critters within city limits and loosing it's map registration and city status), and still be able to restart the city somewhere else, still keeping "his" city, so that no one else could start a new city if the planet is capped. The mayor that declares a ghost city should be given 1 week to reestablish a city before the planet open for other players.
In this way we could have a chanse to rebuild a city with our remaining citizens.

Ot just take a friend to run as a mayor against you in your "ghost city"...
Let him become the mayor.
Move away from the town with at last 10 citizens
Set up your cityhall when your friend dumps the old city.

the problem is capped planets. If I do what you suggest some other already excisting city can take my place available spot on that planet before me.

Errr, if you try to set up your new town immedialty after your friend destroy the ghost one, i don't see where is the problem.
Or are you talking about the rank cap?

yes, rank cap. Other cities are waiting to get a new rank, and I am afraid they get "my" rank as soon as I make leave my current city. I dont know what city that gets their rank. My new or one ot the other waiting for access to a new rank :=)

i think it would be better if mayors could just pack up the dead houses in to the owners datapad. be much more simple.

Too much potential for griefing.

Well "your rank" isn't "your rank" if you decide to ditch your city. Considering the number of people who complain about the caps, I don't think you'd get much sympathy in trying to keep your rank.

Not gonna ditch my city.
..... (are you creazy, m8)
The best option of all (imo) would as one suggested aboce. Let the mayor pack-down houses to players datapad. Infact this is the reason i suggested this in the first place. In order to make my city as beautiful as possible I have to move som harvesters, factories, small/medium and large houses because the player has left the galaxy.
...taking down the city and rebuild it with the people that are still left seems to me to be the only soulution now as a Master Politician. I like the spot my city is, so a house-packup would be the best option for me. I know I could loose rank and maybe even my shuttle, but I think its worth it.
Mayoral House-Packup 4FT!!!!

Yes, thats another good idea, but then SOE should packup their houses in their datapads, not the Mayor - IN CASE they wanna return. Just destroying /nuke might upset a few ...

As I also stated above, the ability for mayors to pack houses themselves will not be put into the game. It has too much griefing potential. The automatic pack-up of inactive player housing, however, has been promised.
