Thread: Lame Duck Mayor
The city where I live is a level 4 with all the amenities required. Our current (and so far only) mayor did a wonderful job organizing structures, recruiting citizens, and raising funds to afford all the civic buildings and associated facilities. He spent many hours just standing around town being available for people who needed help moving in or placing city structures.
Now he wishes to retire for political life and move on. There are no hard feelings and he's not moving out of the town in the near future, he just wants to do other things with his time now that he's built a city.
The problem is that we can't get enough citizens to log in and vote in a new mayor. Everyone who is regularly active consistently votes for a new mayor, yet our incumbent keeps winning due to the default votes.
He's being very reasonable hanging around and performing basic maintenance functions for the city, but he really wants to move on without hurting the city.
Is there any way for an incumbent mayor to voluntarily pass on the position without losing an election?

I don't think it is ghost accounts... people love to jump to conclusion... look around? do you realize it is the holidays?? trying to get people on during holiday (at least to some people it is a holiday) is hard.. I know a lot of people hardly play as much (or play more.. depending on the people) so he might not be able to get the proper shift to the new mayor until after the holiday ( that is another 3-4 elections)
The city wasn't intended to be based on ghost accounts, and I'm really not sure that any of these are right now. We've tried to pass on the mayorship two weeks in a row now and failed due to people not coming to city hall to change their votes. Since everyone we see online knows to change their votes, we're assuming that over half the city just isn't logging in every week.
The HOPE is that it's due to the holidays.
The FEAR is that several people have pseudo-left the game and we'll have to wait for their houses to degrade.
It still seems to be an oversite that a mayor can't abdicate his incumbency.

send out a city wide email i beleave you put "citizens" in the to part and tell them all to vote... if you havent already
The /commands of the town hall have been removed (/ban /transfer ect).
There is the need for a command so the current mayor can step down.
I wish I could give you some advice but it looks like you have to get the citizens to do this for you, if you still do not have them helping vote him out on this, I would have him rase the tax’s this will get their attention.
I wish someone would see this problem and fix it. I also wish they see the whole problem with Mayor, that being after we get our class 4, and master the profession what will hold us in that profession? The managing of the militia would have done it, but as well as know removal of /citywarn killed that.
This profession IMHO after the city is built, is made for a 2nd account or ghost player. I hope they have something up their sleeves to make Mayors want to continue to be one, or I guess I would settle for Jedi leaving Wolf to continue as Mayor ![]()
It just seems to me that a city that can't get 50% of it's population online within a 2 week span is in a very sad state... even during a holiday (in fact, many players I know play more during the holidays).
