Dear Pappi:
Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)
This week is pretty much "steady as she goes". We've got some new merchants who are finishing the process of setting up their malls and shops, our main entertainers are doing some character shuffling, and I've gotta finish setting up the Visitor Center with the pool table and various things to help people find what they're looking for. I also have to move the map of the city in our Mini Mall to the other side of the tent - easy enough I suppose.
Everyone is doing the FS quests (which is what I expected to happen) so it's funny seeing so many citizens in the same solo groups on Dath. We've almost got enough people to form our own solo groups most of the time, anyway.
We're gearing up for our 1 year anniversary in November. I think we'll have to have a big bash (as will a few other cities on Starsider). I think we've lost a few of the original Rank 4's on Naboo, but the turnover hasn't been as huge as Tat or Corellia. Rauha is one of the original "Big 10" cuz our mayor at the time crafted his own City Hall on the first day, logged out next to the politrainer, and then raced to our spot the moment the servers came up that day. It was a long wait too - didn't happen til mid-afternoon. By that time I had gotten home and was able to provide a mount, so that he could /gallop out to our chosen spot and place.
Ah, those were the days....

Solace City, Corellia (Radiant)
Well, this is hopefully the week the key of the city will be turned over to myself. Our current mayor has given up all poli skills completely, and I am now less than 8 votes from turning the city leadership over to myself. Without the ability of our current mayor to resign, I certainly hope that the vote goes well this week. Its tough to push 60 people to vote when they all have different play schedules. We have 2 full guilds in the city and a good number of just plain ol citizens. Hopefully I will get the votes to make this transition smooth.
Once the handover is complete, I will begin to move to form a council for city leadership, which has been lacking. I will also be taking an in depth look at the treasury report and seeing what I can do to improve the city's finacial situation.
Keep your fingers crossed I get the needed votes before the cycle ends this weekend... or it may be a long road ahead.

Farpoint and Farpoint Valley (Tatooine, Starsider)
Been a busy and exciting week. The planetary authority has approved Farpoint Valley as Suburb of Farpoint and Settlers are moving in day by day. Seems that the expected Player move from Farpoint to Farpoint Valley is not going to happen since most people seem to be fine with the small housesI restrict them on in Farpoint. New people and some veterans are anxious to drop their large houses they have been waiting for so long and the forces to make Farpoint Valley grow seem only to be waiting to be unleashed.
For the city itself, the funds are stable, Decorations are capped and Farpoint seems to be full of life. I know many FS chars from our city, having two myself, but it doesnt seem that the village can drive them away from the activity in Farpoint. I moved around some Structures to improve beauty.
The Holonews website has been checked for bugs and seem to work fine now, thanks to Cael for doing that
The Memorial Parc for the RL deceased players is up and some people already gave nice feedback. Seems even OOC structures are accepted if they symbolize something.
I got a great inspiration by a newcomer this week. She had the idea that people who like showing off their pets should have an area, maybe one can add a zoo as attraction. I will work on that. The Gallery of Arts and the University seem to be unleashing activities soon, and the Crystal Garden Restaurant is going to open more frequently.
So all in all, it seems we are getting what we deserve....big fun and great stories

X-TaCity Lok, Ahazi System
Right honorable Elaske presenting,
Greetings distant travelers,
X-TaCity Lok is undergoing change as we speak. Now that the Mayor is 2-4-4-3 the city is being restructured to make it more functional and pleasing to do business.
At the time of placing the shuttle, there was buildings in the way and when the shuttle disapeared squatters took over the zone and the place went to rot once the old mayor went off line. So the shuttle was dropped with a funny angle and the residents hated my idea ofbuilding it under the hill so when the medical center spontaneously combusted new land appeared. exactly where I wanted to drop the shuttle.
With the city now able to flip to improved job market, (15% higher payouts on missions) the citizens came back to the city to do imperial missions from our city instead of commuting to Dark Trench and or Dantooine. The Dancer / Musician bot came back tot he city and the city becan to thrive once more.
With the City now busy I decided I would reposition the shuttle, get another hospital dropped move the bank, and the parking garage so a more focused area. this all worked well, however a squatter disobeyed my rules of placing and dropped a house in the place the garage was going to go so now te garage is off position this wil be corrected once the citizen move his storage shed.
I've begun placing street lights around the busy areas and I've received good feedback so far... once I gather enough ore and gems I'll begin to plant some gardens and staues to comemorate and offer tribute the leaders current and past.
Once we obtain Metropolis again we plan to drop a new imperial base and build a second cantina, which might mean relocating the structures once again... but we seems to be teetering between 72-76 citizens day to day. so I think I still have several weeks yet.. that and the impending inactivity citizen thing.. I'm leary of over building at the moment.
The city has over 3 mill in the reserve and is eating about 400K a week. the city is still tax free and the people love thier mayor. One thing that the people like is that thier mayor goes into battle with them and they feel a scence of importance to keep me alive. which I provide no shortage of rez and rebuff xp for our doctors since I tend to die alot. But when the enemy attacks me pvpthe whole guild seems to react with alot of prejudice and determination. which is great for morale and spirit.
our closest neigbour is Redemtion a rebel city. Since X is an Imperial city border disputes are a common pvp thing...
Good times had by all. Long live the emporer.

what I probably looked like this morning, which might explain why this thread is late
some NU stuff... I noticed that our treasury dipped below 3mil. our city can run for a while on that, but I hope they fix sales tax soon so I can secure our treasury funding. if sales tax isn't fix in a few weeks I might put various misc taxes on, and/or actively encourage folks to donate to the treasury. I don't want to take structures and decorations down... actually, I want to place more of them. however, I can't justify the funding until we have a more steady source of income again
all quiet on the politician front. I hate bumping threads, but I have quite a few posts about politician on the corr forum that still need replies. for those of you that haven't kept track, the recent things I've asked about are sales tax, starship terminals, october inactive wipe, and an exploit with cityban... now if you guys are also as concerned as I am, please follow last week's instructions and /bug all these
okay... back to C... how was your city this week?

(I hope that this is alright for me to post here..)
Our City (Ocean View, Corellia Wanderhome) is doing good so far. I have only been mayor of it for about 2 weeks now, and have hit roadblocks decoration wise. But to be honest I truly expected that. I am planning on updating thecity this week once I am able to train again. I will be making many changes once i get people to move their house lol.. I love being the mayor though, and wouldn't change it for the world. We are still a level 4 city and i want to get us to a metropolis.
The main issues we have had lately have been banning of people and them able to use /bo tr. Will have to see hopefully that will be fixed sometime soon.
Well this is my input...not much this week but will be a lot more next week I am sure once I am trained this week.

Brenn, Naboo - Shadowfire
We had a pretty exciting week. Recently our mayor quit and so we decided to move the mayor of the city to a shared account between 3 of the founders. Of course a transfer of power - even a friendly one for a metropolis is not an easy thing to do. As we started the process, we found that as many as 30-50 of our "citizens" were either no longer playing or were buggy and no longer lived in the city. Wesubmitted a ticket to try to get these people removed from the citizen list, but the CSR told us that theyhad no tools to help us do something like that butunderstood the problems we were facing and were sorry they couldn't help (gee, thanks). We spent an incredible amount of time and effortall week chasing down these "ghost" citizens (they can still vote)and bringing in a few new people as well, and finally won the election this morning, 75-65! /whew
We also have a project currently underway to rebuild the commercial district of the city. For a little background, our city was founded last Nov and we quickly became a huge crafter/shopping city - at our peak this spring we had around 90 active shops. Since then, the number of abandoned vendors and shops has caught up with us and we have no way to manage these structures -as much as 2/3rds of the shops are currently either fully or partially abandoned. It is tough to find a good location for new merchants moving to the city, and while we still have a lot of great shops and about 110 unique merchants doing business in the city, it has become very tough for shoppers to get around and find things effeciently. We made the tough choice to move the shuttleport and rebuild the commercial district around it. This has been somewhat controversial as our new area has some different ideas, with much fewer lots with more merchants on each lot that we are going to manage more closely, and that means we are placing some strict restrictions on the owners(such as requiring the mayor to be on the admin list to help manage the shop if the owner dissappears). Many people also did not want to move because they had invested quite a bit in their shops (prime shuttleport lots sold for as much as 25m credits back in the day). We came up with a plan to hold a public auction for the lots while giving existing merchants and citizens credit to use in the auction - this way it still allows for new comers to have a shot at owning a lot (especially if they are working with some Brenn partners). We started the auction a few days ago, and the results have been interesting to follow: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=shadowfire_trade&message.id=89023
I'd love to hear some fellow politician feedback on the whole commercial district project - I think it is a pretty unique way of handling the problems of managing commerce in a large city that has not been tried before.

The Commune is preparing for the account purge that is in the future and we are planning ahead of time of how to deal with it. Since the doctor that has the medical facility is leaving the game he has agreed to transfer the med facility to another doctor. Our cantina owner is been AWOL for almost 3 months and becoming a bit worried that we may lose it since the only person able to place one is me and I have only 3 lots free. We have recruited a couple new residents and are working to ensure that we stay above 55 active residents.
I finally have gotten a few residents to start a small community on the southside of the southern hill finally, thus freeing up a bit more space in between the hills but at the same time, Gerrytown (an area of just generic houses) is dying.
A second pa hall was established and they agreed to place their pa hall outside the limits in order not to take up an valuable land for future residents. Since most of the members are of a crafter or enterainter with a combat profession, I'm hoping one will be a future cantina owner.
The FS quests has been a blessing and curse right now. Most of the residents engage in solo hunts on Dath, a small group doesn't care and we are working at helping our true crafters through the quests. This has given a new interest in running corvette missions now and hopefully be running one or two a week. In addition a few combat personnel have volunteered to help the non-combat through the Warren, but all of this has sorta left the Commune to look like a ghost town though residents are on.
Other than that, no major ground shaking experiences.

Mid week update on Solace City, Corellia (Radiant)
Well the election ended late last night, and the current mayor remained. I needed about 8 votes to over come him. Unfortunatly its a bit hard to convince everyone to vote during the election period. I feel like a nag after a week of asking everyone, and asking again and again... but now I am forced to do it again.
With so many citizens either inactive or not willing to go to the term to vote, the future of the city is anyones guess. Lets hope for the best.

Haven Island - Corellia - (Europe-Chimera)
Yes, Haven Island is now under new management as of Thursday. This weeks vote has been a resounding success and we have taken control of our city back for ourselves. I would like to offer my deepest thanks for your support and votes and those of you who have been on the island will know that this has been a long and hard struggle since Mayor Kenneth disapeared in the direction of an Imperial Correction Facility.
I'd personally like to thank Soo, Olco, Morton and Boaby for acting as my campaign mangers, arm benders and bloodhound's in the hard task of seeking out and reminding citizens to vote, I wouldn't want to get on your bad side
Enough of looking to the past, it's time to look towards the future. Over the coming days I will be reinstating the Haven Island Militia who's job it will be to help settle new citizens and maintain the overall design of the island laid down by the wayfarers when they originally settled here. The principle one of these being that Haven Island is an island for its residents and not an industrial island.
Once again my up most thanks to those of you whoo votedand i hope thatI will serve you and this island well.

Relatively quiet 2 or 3 weeks for New Kabala on Lok in the Lowca Galaxy.
In personal news, they moved my desk at work, and my boss can now see my computer screen, which is why i haven't been posting much lately.
We lost 1 citizen since my last week in politics update, but we have added 3 or 4 people. We currently have 28 or 29 citizens. We are almost on the map
Also, New Kabala now has 4 gardens (two smalls and two mediums). So now the Lokian Countryside doesn't look quite so bleak anymore.
well, no telling when the boss-lady is off her conference call, so gotta cut this short.
