Got a mail from the guild leader last along the lines of 'what the**** is going on?'

Turns out, he no longer has the guild tag and can't get into guildchat! Looks like he is no longer in the guild.

I go to my house/guildhall (I have recrutiing rights), sure enough he is no longer listed as leader, indeed even a member. The guild leader is now listed as 'species' - but no one knows who this is. We then looked and saw 'species' as being sponsored for membership, but obviously not a member.

Went to main guildhall, same problems. Well after many combinations and not a little luck we managed to get our leader back in as a member, with the guild tag and access to guildchat, but is still not listed as a guild member.

I suspect a bug. Any ideas? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'd say a bug... Either that, or your guild has evolved into a "Species".

It would have to be a bug. I'd recommend sending in a ticket to the CSRs so they can look at the logs and see if they can figure out exactly what happened. If you do find something out further, I'd like to hear about it for sure.

I'll happpily keep you updated. There is a ticket in from the guild leader and a CSR has contacted him although after a wait of an hour I had to log.

Added to that, this morning the bank safety deposit ate my 100 items! Bad weekend.

Why did you disband? You could have elected him as leader again using the allegiance process.

Disband was at the advice of the CSR. He was no longer a member of the guild becasue of the nature of the bug, he doesn't show up on membership list, althoug he does have guild tag and access to guildchat. We couldn't palce allegiance to him becasue we wern't able to select him.

The next update is we have remade a guild, but he can't join! The problem seems to lie with his account - we now need to re-deed the guildhall in an attempt to 're-set' his account re: guild membership. So we have disbanded again to try to clear all possilbe guild asoociations, start guild under new name etc.

Believe me, this was preferable to deleting his character as was suggested by a CSR at one point.

Okay, so the long and the short of it is, thanks to the man in the blue marine armour, is that we have had to disband. We don't know of the 30 in the guild how many will come for re-admittance (a mail was sent out just prior to disbanding), but there are 10 regulars and 5 hardcore members. I would suspect our little guild is dead. We shall have to start all over again with recruiting, but considering how much of a drag that is I can imagine simply going our seperate ways.

Thanks SOE for the damn bugs this game is riddled with.

Update:

The (ex) guild leader now has a permanent <> tag for guild. He can't join any other guild. We have recreated the guild a new but he can't join because he's already a member of a guild apparetnly. He's had to pull the hall and re-deed it (CSR advice) , reset it, no difference. A few of us put houses down nearby for his storage (the CSR put a 24hr hall down for him - 1km away).

The problem def seems to lie with his account. He's pretty low about this. A new suggestion ahs been for the CSR to create a mirror character, delete the old one, and rename to his old name. I had to log at that point so I'm not sure where its at now.

Update: Hes going to have to wait until the PA reset happens (anyone know when?) when the ghost PA should automatically disband as hes obviously the only member.

If that doesn't work apparently it's a matter for the mighty Devs themselves.

Hope you don't mind me keeping you updated, it's so you know incase you ever see this sort of thing for yourself.

No, but all means keep us updated. The more information I have with the problem the more info I can take to the Devs if it becomes a bigger problem for more people (Ie the bug spreads). The PA Update is once a week, there isn't a way to really tell when it'll happen, but it should happen within the next week. So if more than 7 days go by, then we know that didn't work.

However.. I'd advise caution before he deletes his character. Reason I say that is sometimes the name will not clear the name filter for 7 days.. or ever. So he might not be able to remake a character with the same name. Keep that as an absolute last resort.

Just spoken with him, no way is he prepared to delete his character after over a year. He'd rather be unguilded.

On the plus side, I've just recreated the guild and am bringing ppl back into the fold.
