my main char is cl 80 and when i want to find a group its easy, takes maybe 2 min. but my alt is a new char and is lvl22, it usually takes 20min to a hour or more to find a group. the problem is since groups can only have 8 people they don't wana waste a spot on a low lvl char that isn't going to do any damage. i have tried starting low lvl groups but a group with people who r around lvl 25 just can't take down lvl 25 creatures in any reasonable amount of time. i'm not really sure what would be the best way to fix this, maybe make solo'ing at low lvl more efficient or increaseing the number of people per group, maybe limiting it to a max of 8 people cl60 or higher then allow maybe 4 more players ina group as long as they r below cl60. but i think something should be done to help the lower cl players.

I dont find this to be true. I recently started playing one of my toons on Shadowfire and he is now level 63 ~ but when i started joining groups i was lvl 57 (single mastery, so around 57) and im now grinding CH, my pet does 47 damage and I stand around doing bugger all. I am even less useful that a level 22 character. Also in my groups we have had characters ranging from lvl 15 to lvl 80 and we have done fine and had good fun doing so and the higher level players dont mind grouping with lower lvl players at all.

Group size isn't going to increase, so we can go ahead and rule that out. There isn't going to be an easy solution for this. Even if group sizes were increased, they still wouldn't take lower level players they'd just find 4 more higher level ones.

What you honestly need to do, and what anyone needs to do, is make friends. Find a guild. A lot of guilds are out there and they will help you out by grouping up and just having a good time. Not every guild will, might take some time to find one, but it's very possible to do. Leveling up at low levels isn't mean to be quick either, you're earning your profession as you advance. Anytime you group, it will be easier to take down targets than if you did it solo so xp will always be higher and quicker.

Another tip for low level players.. don't goto adventure planets looking for groups. Stay on Tatooine, Naboo, Corellia, Talus, or Rori. That's where most newer players stay and where you'll find lower level people. 90% of the game will always be max level, just because the game has been around for 2 years. Just try to make some friends, find a guild, and enjoy the game. If you're in a guild and they refuse to help you, why are you in that guild? They obviously don't care too much about you being there or they'd be there for you.

A lot of guilds are still in the "solo" mindset of Pre-CU, so if you're guild is that way and shows no signs of changing, I'd suggest moving on to another one. My guild takes lower level people out all the time, any level from 1 to 80. If one group is full, we'll break off into another and still help people out. That's what guilds are about.

What I normally do when I start a hunting group on Dant is try to get 4/5 CL 70-80 and then invite some lower levels. This way we still have the stopping power and lower level playersget a chance to gain xp and train at a reasonable level, but you need to keepthe average group levelfairly high else you will have problems killing the targets quickly.

You can also start groups of your own by looking in the newbie cities.. My friend is around CL 20 now and usually looks for anyone over CL 10 an under 30 to form a "mission" group.

You do have to establish some rules.. like the highest level person is the only one that should be "starting" combat on the enemies. Everyone else should wait until a few shots are fired by the highest player then they can join the fight.

I found this out the other day and may help you.

I wanted to take the lower level guidies out to farm some double XP. We couldn't find any Lvl 80 escorts (the toon I was playing is CL 22), so all of us low level people just got together (highest level was 25) and took some missions and started killing and making some great XP. When a CL 80 guildie joined us, we all took some new level 80 missions and headed out again. This time, the mobs took longer to kill because we only had 1 CL 80 guy doing CL 80 damage but we all recieved the SAME xp as we did before he joined our group.

So, your XP gain is the same no matter what your make up and IMHO, you will gain XP faster if you have group members that are roughly the same level as you and not 1-2 high CL players escorting a bunch of low level players.

Hope this is useful

I posted about this awhile back too. No one wants to group with a low level guy.

What turned into a great time grouping with my level 80 has now morphed into a dull and boring quest to find a group that will accept me.

No one in the newbie cities WANTS to group. Try looking for one yourself.

In EverQuest 1, there were spots that you could go and find people around your level attacking creatures around your level too.

And the lowbies in SWG? They're misguided and trying to group with a level 80 themselves. They don't want to pull their weight. They have it in their heads that they can leech better xp with a level 80 in the group.

i've been thinking about this grouping thing a lot lately too. i recently started grouping after a year of playing and found it to be fun. however, the other guys i grouped with kept asking that i make sure we get a level 80 player. i am cl62 and the other guys were all in the 20's or below. so the question here is whether it is as good for them to have a level 62 max groupie as it is to have a cl80 (presuming there are non to join the group that i am making)? how does group xp work for lower guys? sounds like they will get the same xp with me being in the group as they would a cl80 provided i got missions at or around level 62. is this correct?

I've tried very hard to bust this myth within my guild with emails and guildchat about it. As long as you are doing missions at or near your groups highest CL, you will recieve the full XP reward no matter what your highest CL is. However, its such a persistant myth that I just end up looking like an idiot* because so many people are getting told otherwise. I understand that the logic of grouping with CL80's will give you more XP is sound (flawed, but sound).

I think its time that SOE steps in here with some posts about it or perhaps have a "Tuesdays TIps" on this to debunk it. Anything would help here because I find far too many people who are wasting their time trying to find CL80 groups.

* BTW, i am an idiot often times, just not in this case

It's really ironic seeing those XP groups forming that don't want anybody under CL 70, or one was nobody under CL 80...

Like I said above we try to help by letting a few lower levels in the group, they enjoy it and learn to work as a team pretty quick normally.

But last night we met something worse than a low level leech, a CL 80 leech. He was just running in, dropping a grenade on the lair and the mobs, and then he just hopped on a bike and avoided all combat. So all he was collecting was combat xp, I wish SOE would fix the XP on grenades so that this stopped happening. We kicked one and then spotted another one doing the same so had to kick him as well. Now I don't mind helping someone out by hanging around to allow them to level when I've capped my XP, but this guy was just a pure leech.

Just putting this out there to warn others running a group to look out for them.

You sure he wasn't just trying to exploit the 1500 health lairs for quick cash?
