I was just thinking about the mechanics of other games where factions are involved and how they affect their players and or guilds. As an idea to help people get out there and join a PA to be involved with the GCW, here is my idea.

What do you think about declared PAs?

This would mean a few things right off, the first being that EVERYONE in the guild is OVERT. The second being that you would NOT need to redeclare everytime. You clone overt. Your guild has decided to beon 24/7 PvP status.

Now I can see this not beingenough incentive to do this, but what I remember from UO (yes, I played UO), was that declared crafters could craft FACTION armor and weapons. Could this not also be done here? The rules being that only declared players could use them, AND they revert to non-faction status after about 1-2 weeks. Given that as it applies to SWG, I could see it then being faction versions of the itemswith a temp buff like Imperial Ubese helmet. Then after the 2 week timer, it reverts to just Ubese Helmet and loses its faction buff.

Thoughts?

So how is an Architect or an Armorsmith or any other crafter supposed to get anything done? If they keep cloning OVERT, they will be killed, repeatedly, until thier items decay, then they will be killed some more, finally they will be killed, and killed and killed until they leave the game.

COVERT status is all that protects crafters in PAs that are participating in the GCW. A PA that forced its members to be overt all the time would never get any crafters or if they did the characters would be useless. They would rarely be able to service harvesters, use shuttle/star ports or any public facilities before an opposing BH/CH/Smuggler killed and DBed them just 'cause they were bored and wanted a few extra FP.

That is my whole point dark...the PA has CHOSEN to do this. The members know full well that they have to go overt when they join. If they don't like it, they quit the PA, not the game. I agree this is dangerous for crafters, but that is the risk they are going to take for crafting good faction equipment.

Interesting idea. I run a PVP orientated guild on Valcyn. We for one would see this as an incentive to the GCW.

ok. seriously I'm getting tired of Overt crafters complaining about getting killed.. TEF'd is one thing but OVERT..

Oh perhaps I should mention that I totally agree with the original post...

When we first made our PA and it said "Declare allegiance" on the mission terminal I was very hopeful that it was a feature that would let us remain Overt... but alas that was a different broken feature at the time..

Just when are we going to be able to clone as a factioned cloning center... since everytime we clone it say 'You have cloned at a non factional cloning center. You are now Covert.' or whatever it really says...
