Thread: Status of Guild Wars?
What's the deal with these? Any word on when they might be working again, and what changes will be made to them?
I would like to see them working again soon, I think this aspect of the game needs to be there, to make guilds more fun, but also, at the same time needs to be much more well balanced to prevent griefing like was going on before.
When I composed the "Top 5" there were guildwars happening on my server. Also, in my searches of all topics on this forum involving PAs, I did not come across anything suggesting that guildwar wasn't working. I had also asked the GCW Correspondent and visited the GCW forum. The only posts I saw theresuggested that guildwars were happening except in cases where the player didn't have permission to start a guild war, or the opponent guild hadn't accepted the war.
Information about guildwar issues started showing up in the later pages of my report, even then it didn't say it wasn't working, it just said there were bugs and exploits. By this point, the Top 5 had been submitted.
I don't truly know when guildwars stopped working...(?) I do know there are a lot of issues with them and I plan on doing a Focus Thread just on the topic of guildwars.
The problem is that even though they are working, it is easy to abuse them, so they don't ever last more than 2-3 days.
With the new decay, it's suicide to guildwar. Being in a guildwar gives you a permanent TEF against the opposite guild. This means that if I kill you and race to the cloning center, the second you clone and your body is in the cloning tubes, I can kill you again.
I can kill you over and over until every single piece of gear on you is destroyed.
The second problem is that if you are in a group when you get attacked by an opposing guild member, your whole group receives a TEF against that player. So people can group up non-guild members and drag them into the fighting by using group TEF's.
These two problems are the reason you don't see any guild wars happening.
The "neutral" group members should see a TEF on the "outsider" who engages with one of their group. If they then engage the "outsider," then they personally receive a TEF that the "outsider" can use to fire back at them. If a group member chooses not to engage, and decides that his groupmate needs to take care of his own personal business by himself, there should be no TEF automatically visible to the "outsider." This should be the case also with group members having faction-based NPC's aggro on one of their members for negative faction standing. If the groupmembers don't engage, they should be safe.
