Thread: Guild Merchants
Currently, what we do is just reimburse our guild members the discount. However, if the guild member doesn't have enough money to afford retail pricing, then they have to wait till the guild crafter is online to buy directly from them.
Either incorporate guild pricing into the merchant system, which will be a pain to code, OR
Grant the ability for the guild hall to be private, but still be able to place merchants in them for guild-only purchases.
Another idea that we tried was to put a very high entry fee and just add "guild:XXX" to the entry list, but that didn't work either. The only way you can enter without having to pay is if you are set as admin, and the "guild:XXX" doesn't work when put in admin list either.
Just another thought...
Merchants use to be placeable in Private houses in beta, but people would grief that way, IE low price item high entry fee, But how could they buy it you ask?
Well back in beta you use to be able to Buy items in any Vendor anywhere on the planet you were on, heck even the galaxy, What needs to be done is since vendors no longer list there inventory on the open market people can not buy them on the open market from say a town anymore, so there is no worries of griefing people since they can not buy them from out side the shop.
The ability to list stock items in your shop should be a merchant perk that is only avalible if you building is public and that should be checked to see if the building can eb toggled Private/public.
Also set the access fee to 100000000 and just put all the members on the entry list, you dont need admin to enter, if they could just let us do private building vendors again or fix Guild:TAG so that they work both of these problems would be fixed.
Btw we just use a building with a high entry fee and add the members when they are at sufficent level to use the guild merchant, no need to give them back money.
Also in Beta there was a VENDOR Tab that you could add people to so they could place a vendor in your house but it didnt work and you also had to add them to the admin list but if there admin you can drop a vendor so they removed the tab all together.
Also in beta you could view the list of items all across the galaxy from any vendor you owned any item that was on another vendor or bazaar.
I miss beta, it was so much fun.

Doesn't it work to set up a small house, put the Merchant on admin list, the guild:xxx on entrance list and then make the house private? I never tried, but we have such a feature upcomming and I always thought it would work that way.
You can't place vendors in private houses, and you can't set houses private if they have vendors inside. Current game mechanics don't offer any elegant solution to this problem.
We do just that. We have a small generic set up with an astronomical entrance fee and just have guild members on the entry list. It has worked very well for us.

But you add them individually though right? We tried that too, and it works that way. But using the guild:NAME way, doesn't work. And I think there is a limit of the number of names you can add to the entry list.
At any rate, it was still too cumbersome to use.
