I've read about a lot of people saying how they want MOTD for their PA. I'm an officer in my PA and I just don't understand why MOTD is such a bid deal. I haven't played any other MMORPGs before, so I don't have any experience with it. Maybe someone could explain why this is such a big issue.
As I understand it, a MOTD would display in a seperate window when a user logs in. What does this accomplish that can't be done just as easily using email, guildchat, or a PA website? Overall it seems to me to be a redundant feature, not worth being on the Top 5 when there are other more important, less redundant issues the devs could work on. But that's just my opinion, and I could be misunderstanding or overlooking something.
This isn't meant to be a flame of the idea or anyone who is for it. I'm just hoping to get some clarification as to why it's seems to be such a highly requested issue.

Guild Email is a huge help and a great leap forward for PA Administration. However, it isn't perfect for informing guild members of critical informationbecause we have no control over when the message will be seen, if ever.
1.Some members have cluttered email boxes, delaying the reading of guild mail or making them miss it all together.
2.Some members just don't checkemail promptly.
3. Some members check the mail, read it, delete it, then forgetabout that event that was going to happen in a day or two.
We imagine that a Guild MOTD would be like a System Message when you log in. It would be the first thing you see in front of you on your screen, no escaping it. I'd like it if it could include color as well, just like a Squad Leader message (but with far more limited use).It would be a clear way tocommand the attention of your guild members the instant they log in. In addition, at any time a member could type /motd tohave the message repeated.

The reason it's important is because it's a much surer way to get people's attention. Most PA's do not have a website, and many people do not check their in-game email, or get so much in-game spam that it can easily get washed away anyway. As far as guildchat, not only do some people not have high enough resolution to have a second window open just for guildchat (so it can get washed away in spatial spam) but the guild leader may want to send a message to everyone when he/she isn't online - a guild leader can't always be online.
Plus, if there is a continuing message that you want to be set that members see every time they log on, you don't have to keep re-sending emails every time you log on. Great for reminders etc for dates - for instance, if you email people two weeks ahead of time to organize an event, much of the time they read the email, respond and say they'll be there, but by the time the event comes along it's two weeks since they thought about it (when they read the email) and they forget about the date. MotD, IMO, is a wonderful tool to solve all these problems.

Well, I understand the idea and concept behind it, and I can see how it could be useful, I guess though IMO it just doesn't rank as one of the Top 5 PA issues, but that doesn't make it a bad idea. I certainly wouldn't be upset if it was added. Disappointed other more important issues (IMO) were overlooked, yes, but not upset. It's what a majority of the users want, so in that respect it does belong on the Top 5.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, and thanks Jascentia for making sure PAs get the attention they deserve.
