My answer: What ever works best and what your guild like. You can go on leave within 5 mins, so there is no problem for hunts and such. Although with Faction guilds you dont need to go on leave and you could have facional events but if you have a multi factional guild the ones in the guild who wanted it to bea factional guild and the ones who stayed, stayed because they like the guild and obviously are not too bothered or bothered by the factional stuff. but like i said before whatever works best.

That's very true... I'm just trying to figure out what would give the best experience. My current guild isneutral and even though some of us are factioned they don't seem to be too into anything GCW-related, and I am... therefore it's a bit of a roadblock if you see what I'm saying. We don't have many fighters, and therefore even if we were to get someone organizing faction events for either side it could be quite hard.

does that make sense?

hehe, sounds like your your a combat guy/gal in a crafting guild. My advice would be to hang around with some other guilds and see what they get up to and if your not happy with your current guild then maybe look for another one that is combat orintated (sp??)

LOL.

I am sort of. We basically have a couple really strong fighters and then ID, BE, etc wtih pike nad carbine on the side, and a bunch of us are going jedi. (Which poses its own problem lol)

The guild is into combat, definitely - we're underworld, not crafting though we do have quite a few crafters We're not big enough yet to be able to do anything solid PvP or RP wise in the underworld though - or even factioned wise. I think the aim was once we get big enough we'd be able to PVP/RP with other gangs and such - what I was thinking was what if we made it so that we had a good faction emphasis even within ourselves so that those who wanted to could do the base takedowns and stuff. That way we could have plenty of combat stuff and get the best of both worlds.

However I don't know whether it would completely work - that's why I'm looking for advice.

So (assuming you're involved in the GCW) - neutral guild or factioned guild? Especially with the new changes. The way I see it, having a factioned guild automatically makes it easier for things to be organized such as guild outings, group base raids... if anyone needs help with something there's no question of compatibility. And with the jedi revamp having guildmates in the same faction would probably be quite useful once one reaches jedi and has to go permanently overt. A large PvP is pretty workable with factioned stuff too.

On the other hand a neutral guild could be truly neutral and place opposing faction terminals in the city, etc. PvP would have to be on a more individual basis unless the guild is attacking another criminal/neutral guild... guild outings would have to be pretty much non factioned. Granted there are plenty of these, but if anyone wanted to do something factioned, unless the guild is big enough they'd probably have a hard time finding backup or help and even if there are factioned people in the guild they may not be actively involved in it. However it could potentially work that you have one person in charge of the "rebel" half of the guild and scheduling assorted base raids, PvP and such for the diehard Rebels and another person doing the same for the "imperial" half... that way it'd be like a factioned guild within a neutral guild if that makes sense.

So those are my thoughts... what do you guys think is better and why?

Ah. Well one thing you could do about the faction thing, is what Merc guilds do. Have enough faction to go on either side, then you could hire yourselves out, seeing as you are a "gang" of sorts. Then you could RP Mercs or whatever you want to RP.
