Thread: Please allow vendors in private PA halls.
I remmber back in beta that they removed the ability to place a vendor in a private house, since its inventory was displayed on the entire market from anywhere in the galaxy reguardless of where your in the galaxy.
well since they dont allow private vendors in a house, allow them in the PA hall, i dont want to use to stupid Set access fee to 100million just so i can have a vendor in there selling guild rated equipment and resouces.
It was a Grief Tacktic at first, but its not griefable since you cant buy things outside of some ones shop anymore.
I agree. This is a huge issue for us. I remember this change being post-beta though, as I never played beta.
The devs have made these arguments against allowing vendors in private structures:
1. Griefing via regional listings - fixed, no longer an issue
2. People and PA's using vendors for storage, thus taking up too much database resources - Non-issue! With the instability of vendors and the stockroom especially, Vendors are very, very poor storage solutions.
We would like to be able to grant our PA Members goods at a significant discount. Those of you who suggest putting a very high entry fee on the structure housing the vendor, that's a good idea. BUT!
A. The listing"Guild:<tag>" on the entry or admin list does not work to allow people in without the entry fee.
B. Putting people on the list individually does work to allow them past the entry fee - But the list is limited to 50 people! There are 80+ in my PA.
This has been an issue for us for a loooong time. No bug or csr reports on this one have ever been responded to.
The main problem I have with not being able to have a vendor in a private PA hall are these:
- Opposing faction members hiding inside the (public) PA hall (should we have vendors)
- If we are unable to have private PA vendors at least let us BAN overt members of a faction
Reasons?:
If I was an Overt Imperial, does it seem logical that I can walk into a rebel compound and expect to get services granted because it is a psudo "public" building - give me a break - its like walking into a rough bar.
Please for all that is holy - allow private vendors so I can sell to fellow faction members and fellow guild mates
I agree with this.
As a guild, setting up vendors with discounted items for members is a must.
While it may take some coding, there is a very simple fix to this. Add a permission list to the vendor just like there is for the house or a harvester. If I can makea house private or public, or if I can set separate admin and entry rights to a house or admin and hopper rights to a harvester, why cannot a similar access be granted to a vendor?
Simply add a public/private option to the vendor and give it an access list. Anything else seems to me to be overkill.
