Thread: Official Player Associations Top 5

Very shortly after being given the Correspondent title, I was asked to assemble the Top 5 issues for Player Associations. Thus, much of the feedback you all gave me in the State of Player Associations thread hadn't happened yet. While this Top 5 is modified a bit from the one I posted in my first report, it is still largely the same. It focuses on guild-breaking bugs.

In the 11/20 hotfix notes, it was stated that #3 should be fixed. Also, a fix to "guild updates" was in these notes, which may or may not be the resolution to #1 and #5. Hopefully good results will be seen one week after the hotfix.

It is my hope that the serious bugs we face will become issues of the past and we can move on to feature requests. Until then, we can discuss and dream in our new forum.

Here is the official Top 5 that was given to the Developers:

1. Setting Allegiance does not change the PA Leader - It is difficult to tell if this is working properly or not because PA members have no way of seeing the allegience standings. There are reports of PAs getting nearly 100% of their members to declare for one person, but leadership never changes.

2. Guildchat continues to be highly unstable

3. Anyone with kick permissions can remove the PA Leader I also suggest adding a confirmation box to /guildremove that includes the name of the target. /guildremove has a funny way of defaulting to the player who typed it if the target is not valid.

4. The interface for setting Guild Member Permissions needs an overhaul

5. The functions to change PA Name and Abbreviation aren't working.

As TH posted, we will be going over these details and I will bring developer responses back to you as soon as I can. However, he is going through this process with every single Profession so it may take some time.

1. Be able to invite or remove member from Guild while other member is not on.

2. PA Hall size of deeds is to large, 9 deeds for most and 7 for Tatooinne, maybe make it based on # of members in PA For Example: 0 -15 = 9 deeds 16 - 25 = 8 Deeds 26 - 40 = 7 deeds 41- 60 = 6 deeds 60 and up = 5 deeds.

3. /transferownership command if new leader comes in they should take the ownership of PA Hall

4. PA Bank for dues collections

5. Guild Chat and Guild Email

Thanks for your input. Also, guild email was recently implemented. Just send an email to the word guild and make sure your PA Leader has set your guild mail permission to +.

Float this, Jascentia, so it doesn't get lost after the floodgates open. The listed issues are the ones that I seem to feel the most.

There really needs to be a way for the guilds to change their identity strings (name and abbreviation), but I cannot be something that can be abused--I can see where an abuse may occur with being able to change these things at will and at any time.

Get those guild leader problems fixed! I've heard some horror stories about things like this, and frankly, my guild had an issue where the leader tried to kick someone, got kicked himself, so another member became the leader, and he was a complete **** about it. Thankfully the issue was relatively quickly resolved.

Not Top 5 thoughts:

Permissions is cool, and it's nice that it seems to be working, but I'd also like the option of having some kind of a ranking system within the PA. Being able to set certain permissions to certain titles and being able to create custom titles as well. Possibly allow these titles to be selectable over the character's head or, more simply, just give them a little spot in the character Examinewindow under the PA info.

A guild bank for dues would be interesting. That might help to upkeep the guild hall without relying on donations. I think allowing the leader to have access to the bank would be subject to griefing, however, because if the guild leader allegience is checked oncea week and a griefer gets becomes the leader, then he could jack up the dues and suck out a lot of money before they can get him out of the position. (Although dues would probably also be collected at the weekly update, so consider this to be a two week long reign of griefing. If no one notices the dues jack before the next update cycle.)

Maybe getting different governing styles implemented would be cool, too. Like a council based ruling system of X members, or the default Democratic system, or a Monarchical type of system where the leader sets who he wishes his successor to be, etc. Even better, a feudal system would be fun.

What about a more complicated delegated voting system? New members alliegence automagically goes to the current leader, but after that, they may change their allegience to someone else. If they set their allegience to another member, that member now controls their vote plus their own. If that other member sets their allegience to himself, then they are basically accepting the possibility to become the leader of the guild. That way a leader with a lot of allegience can step down (by no longer giving his allegience to himself) and he can now use all those allegience votes to decide who can succeed him. Um... this may or may not work because if it was a digraph representation of the votes, it would be BAD if it was cyclic, of course, that's not my problem, is it? Maybe make a rule so that you cannot vote for someone that you currently have the vote of.... yes... the person at the root of a given voting tree would control the votes of all of that tree's nodes. Nifty.

Jascenta, Can you please more clearly explain what you said about guild email and how to use it? I'm not sure I understand. I am the leader of a PA, please tell me how I can email all my members without copy/pasting the names from notepad

Start a new email. Instead of putting in someone's name, just put in the word guild. Not guild:xxx, not the name of your guild, not anything but the letters...

Item storage and fix the balcony bug.

Since my guild is just medium and more or less a loose confederation of like minded individuals and friends of friends in game I really don't care too much about the structuring of voting leaders, and ranks (although censorship of some titles are beyond stupid) however as my sig denotes I do care about item storage and lot space.

I placed my PA hall and don't mind much the penalty this has to my lots. The only amount I would ask them to lower it by, if any, would be 1 so I can drop a small house anywhere as opposed to just Naboo. However 250 items?! Zombie Jesus on a pogo stick, even with a large rectangular fountaing filling most of the main room I am hitting the cap just by furnishing my hall. Now if it was loaded with hides, metals, and radioactive materiel I would understand but there is not one piece of that in my PA hall. It is completely filled with furniture and quest items (which aren't droppable now thank you very much) and I"m hitting the cap...that just ain't right. Especially if they ever fix the balcony bug. I'll have to stretch my design's spartanness even further to fit my dueling arena up there.

Mother! The guild comm channel is insufferable and may actually be causing some of my issues with the stability of the galaxy for me. Everytime I lose my comm, I end up having strange things happen, including crashes.

Please let them know it is critical to get this fixed. Thank you.

Has there been a response from the Devs on why some PA Halls use less lots than others? I know tatooine PA Halls were mentioned as using 7 lots, whereas naboo PA Halls use 9... I know the person holding our PA Hall on naboo would kill for 2 extra lots...

Agreed! Something like this would be very nice.

Again, agreed! However, Ithink the PA leader needs to be able to access this bank, just as the Mayor of a city can access the city treasury. Of course this leaves the system open for griefing, but I don't think it would be that much of an issue. PA members shouldn't set their allegiances to someone who might be an not-so-good leader/possible griefer.

Of course all of this is just wishes and are next to our top 5 issues and any bugs that might occur when our top 5 issues are 'resolved.' We all know what usually happens

1) Guildchat came back after crashing for the first time ever the other day so that was exciting, although for the people who relogged to get it back it was still impossible to join.

2) Really would love to have a way for potential recruits to be able to talk with us in guildchat. I would like to be able to Sponsor a member and have them be able to join the guildchat until we either tag then or unsponsor them.

3) Guild Terminal is really a pain to navigate through, hope it would be more like the friends list where you could arrange it by name or title.

4) PA Vendors! We should be able to place vendors that only Guild: ?? can access or the abilitiy to set up vendors in a private PA Hall.

Would that be the Guild:XXXX command to allow people from your guild into/admin forstructures? If not, that needs to be fixed too.
