Thread: How do you get many people in a guild?
Well, if you plan on being a leader, this should be something you should have to figure on your own. If you can't figure this first part out, then maybe you shouldn't run a guild. Your next question will be, " How do I get people from my guild from leaving?".
This is not a flame, just an honest opinion.
Ya man i really shouldnt be talking, because i only have 12 members. Tho i think once your MAXed in skills. Hunt in groups alot and PvP ALOT, then by grouping youll meet good hunting friends who may join your PA. If you PvP alot and kill alot of enemys people will notice and may want to join only because you own.
Only a theory but ive asked PA leaders this question before and those are the answers i usually get.
I second one of the other poster's assertions that if you cannot figure out how to do this on your own, then perhaps you are better off joining another PA with a leader who has.
Building your PA is not an easy task if you do it correctly. My PA the Servants of the Shrub started about a year ago during Beta.We quickly grew do to the nostalgia of having a central ideal that everyone loved and wanted to hold on to such as a Shrub that floats 12m off the Tatooinedesert ground. However that quickly faded when the devs started focusing thier attention to other things driving the player base towardsother game issues. The most powerful thing that I feel we have going for us is uniqueness. Can you count how many Shrub based PA's there are in the Entire SWG universe. I have been a member of these boards for a long time now andthe SOSis and always will be the premier "Shrub" PA. You might have even heard about us from the Devs time to time (points to the wedding friday feature and theQ-3PO Hyperdrive interview).
If you truely wish to gain members and hold them find a central theme that is unique and new that others will use to identify your group of players. The second thing you need is time you are willing to devote to organizing and running your PA. Setting up and running a large PA is very time consuming and is needed if you wish to make a name for yourself which will inturn bring you new recruits. The third thing you need is flexability. To often a rigid structure will kill a PA unless you choose to be a very miliaristic type that isbeyond a fun level. Even the most pvp oriented PAs out there need to be able to flex with thier members attitudes. The final thing you need to remember is "Reputation is Everything". If you become a well known PA that spans entire planets your reputation will make you or break you. Don't be afraid to boot someone after they have brought major embarassment to you as the leader and the PA as a whole or comend a member that has brought great favor.
I hope my expierences with this type of thing can help you and others out as it has been a long road to success. We will celebrate our 1 year aniversary in Febuary which is a huge accomplishment since most guilds that I have seen in past gamesrarely achieve this milestone.
