Thread: Sponsoring is pointless.
I would really enjoy it if other players in the PA, not just the guildmaster, could sponsor new members into the guild.
At this point, I must sponsor and accept myself.
It would be a great convenience if a member could recruit another potential member or friend while I was offline or on another planet perchance, instead of having the whole recruiting job on the guildmembers shoulders (it's probably a large problem to me, not being offline much of the time when players from foreign countries want to join, which is often the case)
Not a part of laziness, but if I could accept the new members into the guild without them being near, and sponsored before I arrived at the guildhall, it would probably be a great nuisance gone for guildmasters.
Thank you

1. Other PA members can both sponsor and invite. You just have to give them permission via the Guild Terminal (see the basic PA manual).
2. Some commands must stay on the Guild Terminal otherwise there is no need for a PA Hall after a guild has been created. While I'd like to see greater flexibility here with some items, it is a discussion I've yet to have with the extremely busy devs. For now, /guildremove and /guildstatus are two of the forwardslash commands.
All of our guild members have the ability to Sponsor. I like it, because it's a way that they can tell the PA leaders "Hey, I like this person and I think they should be in our PA." Then the leaders interview the person, etc. before the final invitation. I just wish you didn't have to be right at the PA terminal to sponsor.
The other issue is that even if you sponsor somebody, there is no way for them to participate in the guild chat channel, which is where you will also get a good feel of their character during evaluation.
If the devs are not going to allow the sponsored members to automatically join the guild chat, then I would like to see the guild chat channel have an "Invite" button the same way all the other chat channels have.
This would allow the leader(s) to invite other players who may not officially be "in the PA", but are affiliates and may wish to participate in the guild discussions and would also allow us to invite the "sponsored" members.
Everyone in our guild can sponsor, all council members and membership committee than have the ability to invite... makes things much easier.
We also create a chat channel that all guildmates, allies etc join (unfortunately it has to be recreated daily) we invite new membership applicants to join this channel, that way we get to know them, they get to know us. It really helps organizing hunts, people needing training and supplies and general chit chat. Of course still have to remind folks that the channel is there every once in awhile but it really is a handy tool.

I agree so very much with this.
I personally feel that you should be able to recruit a new member(both sponser and accept) them anywhere, not just if they are directly at your PA.
A lot of people differ from this opinion however, so what I would propose is either:
A. Only guild leaders can sponser/accept away from the PA Terminal(Basically not allow this permission to others on the terminal like changing permissions currently is)
B. Or.. allow anyone to sponser away from the PA Terminal, however they must be close to it to be accepted to it. That way it's a compromise to both sides.
I also like the idea of allowing sponsered people into the guild chat, or at least having a simple easy way to invite them into it temporarily, that way you could really get a feel for them along with the entire guild that is online at the time as well. Would help you know if someone is truly right for your guild before you accept them.
