Our guild council needed an easy way to have transcripts of our meetings. We started with someone being designated as the secretary, and I volunteered. First, I made a backup of my current chat log file by changing its name. Then I logged into the game with my guild council member toon and ran /log to start my new chat log file. I joined the group with the other council members and we commenced our meeting. At the end of the meeting, I logged out and copied the chat file to another file name to keep it separate.

Now, the hard way to handle this file is to edit it by hand and remove anything that wasn't an entry in the group chat tab that we held our meeting in. The easy way was to write a program to do this for me

The result is the beginning of a program that will eventually have a web front end, but currently is a more rudimentary implementation. This runs on any system with perl 5.6.1 or greater installed (that means nearly any unix/linux/windows/mac system). So, for the geekier gamers among us, please try out the beta-ish version of "swglogparse" on SourceForge:

Thanks!

Hmm, this sounds promising. We hold our meetings every Tuesday night. We usually designate a Sgt to keep the minutes, but this looks really neat. I'll start using it and give some feedback. Rock on!
