Yet another permission to give people

A guild system message would be like the SL system message but instead of going to groups it would go to all the members of the guild. As we all know some guild members dont read guild chat all or the time or dont check there mails straight away.

This would be useful if your guild had a base that got attacked or if your guild is having a meeting soon or for many other reasons. This way most people would see the message and would be able to help or come, i think it is more noticable that guild chat or mail as it comes up right infront of you.

Personaly i think this would be a good idea (why would i have posted it other wise )

Discuss.

It certanily has potential. I think this could be combined into the MOTD feature request though so that anytime someone alters the Guild MOTD it sends a system message as well as updates for people who log on or off.

Great idea.

Maybe just SL in your guild could send a guild system message?

That would be a disadvantage to guild leaders who aren't Squad leaders and they wouldn't be able to take advantage of a guild system. So I don't think that would go over too well. But maybe copying their code for guilds would.

What Stena was specifically asking for wasn't in the wishlist. It was a request for a system message available for guilds so that it instantly showed on everyones main screen rather than in the chat bar only. So its an additional request.

from the wishlist:

MOTD: Message of the Day, a system message all guild members see on logging in (can include color). Guild email is great, but it can’t act as a constant reminder of important information.

My point exactly, the MOTD we had requester prior was only visable when they logged in or typed the command. What I stated above is so that as soon as someone changed it everyone in game would get "Guild MOTD: Event tonight at 8" on the screen like when you get XP or a Squad leader uses their system message ability. It's two different things.

The request above is simply a line of chat on the chat window that can quickly get buried on the chat if you log in in say coronet or theed. This way, when someone changes it it shows up on everyones screens as soon as its changed and in two places. On the chat bar in spatial and on the main screen at the top.

I would hope that if the MOTD were to be changed while people would be logged in, it would show as a system message as well as a line in spatial. Isn't that the same thing?

Yes, but what we're talking about Cohav, is not changing the MOTD. If the MOTD is "Remember to vote for a new Recruiting Director!" a guild leader wouldnt want that changed just to remind a member of a meeting. So this command would allow a guild leader to send a message to the entire guild that could not be ignored and was not dependent on the MOTD. But having a message come up when the leader changes the MOTD is also a great idea.

Wishlist:

1: When the MOTD is changed, all online guild members will recive a system message both alerting them to the change, and informing them of what the MOTD is currently.

I.e.: "Guild Message: Cohav has just changed the message of the day! Guild Message of the Day: "Remember to vote on the new Recruiting Draft - Cohav"

2: Guild leaders will be able to system message (guild message) the guild to inform them of ingame events that are coming up, or send reminders to the guild as a whole. This feature would be independent of the notification of a MOTD change.

I.e.: 'Legend! Remember that we have a guild meeting in the Legend City cantina at 8 o'clock EST. That is in 15 minutes, so please make your way down to LC. If you are unable to attend in LC but will be attending remotely in GC, please send me a /tell! - Cohav"

(why is it that we cant use the "indent" feature provided to us because it contains an illeagal "style = tag? Thank you Lithium...)
