Thread: Guild Merger?

I just wanted to know if anyone has ever considered or pulled off a guild merger. The idea just occored to me, and since I really want to help our guild grow would consider the option if anyone wanted to work it out. Our guild has 50 members and is rebel/neutral. If anyone is having trouble running or maintaing a guild we would gladly combine powers (not hostile takeover by anymeans). Anyway, this isn't even totally about our guild, I just want to know in general if this has ever been attempted.

Just curious

Guild mergers happen all the time for various reasons. Some just wanting to get a larger guild or some because they can't quite manage it like they imagined. If you're interested in it, I would suggest your Galaxies forum as this one is just for general discussion about PAs and not a particular PA / Recruitment / etc.. forum.

Don't worry, I tend to type /rt when I'm talking to people on IM and such, it's like a habit.

As rothin said they happen every now and then sometimes they work sometimes they dont for various reasons. The most recent onesi have seen on infinity worked but this was IMO because they were already a group close group of friends. i dont believe this would work if less people in the guild knew each other, some may not like the way the guild is now being run and decide to leave which in turn means others decide to leave but of course this is a worst case senario. Also as rothin said it's proberly best to talk about it on your galaxy forum or even in game with some guild leaders.

Mergers are pretty common just got to find the loyal people that would do it. I've seen guilds merge in time of war before but I think it's to build the numbers up.

If guilds merge, which leader of either guild becomes the leader of the new, merged guild?

Merging isn't an actual feature of guilds so that would be between the two guilds who try to merge. Whether they all go to one guild or the other or decide to create a new guild together.

My PA just went thru a merger of sorts. We were all crafters and needed a combat group to sell to. We ended up haveing a crafters guild and a combat guild with sepret names but we have meeting togeather and we have a channel open for both guild to talk on. We have one member with a alt in both guilds so that emails can be passed back and forth more easly

Just a idea for ya

my PA just merged onsunday with another PA in which we were a sister Guild with a while before. We finally went ahead and combined them both and made one PA........that reminds me, have to change my guild tag in my profile

Anway, what we had to do was disband one guild and all the members of the disbanded guild joined the other guild.....the guild leader of thestill existingguild request the name change for the guild that all the members gathered together to vote on. We effectively will get our new tag up on sunday (takes a week for the name change). Also, by the merger happening, we were able to poplulate the other guilds city and it went to metropolis level the next day (was the scheduled update time). We now have guild halls and players house spreaded on every planet that you can populate and a lot of active members.

Now how we worked out who would be the leader of the guild is that we made a council consisting of the leaders from both PA's and a few well respected and long time veterans who have had an account open since beta (no subscription interuptions or awols). Even though there is technically only one guild leader from the games point of view.....anything that has to do with the guild, any changes or decisions is voted on by the council with input from everyone in the guild.

So far it's going well though we are still getting organized, but since both guild had been playing together or a while before the merger, we are pretty confident everything will work out ok.

The main reason we mergered was because both guilds had inactive players and since we found ourselves playing together all the time anyway, we thought it was better to be one guild and increase the list of active players, therefore becoming able to have a more efficient guild.

anyway, like everyone said, mergers happen all the time.....it would be nice if the game had a system for mergering guilds....but I don't think it's necessary...would be a convienant though. Although both guilds have been around since nearly launch of the game, we found that a merger would be best.....it's not a bad thing really......it's a lot better than only having 10 active members in a guild....
