Thread: Trying to change the NAME of my guild, BUT wanting to keep the TAG
I know for a fact though that it was on our wishlist that I submitted for things we'd like to see changed. Hopefully if you keep trying it will eventually change.

That may be the case, but it was always my understanding that you could change one or the other by putting in the same information if you wanted to keep it. One problem we've constantly come across is that when name changes don't go through we don't get any error message saying why. I'll make sure to submit this as a bug again to see if we can figure it out.

Wow...we just went through this.
Just as Ruh said, our guild voted to change the name but keep the tag initials.
I tried everything to do that but it did not take.
I reported it and a CSR (DaveS) said it was not possible do to "game coding".
Wierd that someone else is having the same problem.
So what did you guys (/cower dont keel meh liani
) end up doing. Another option I suppose would be to disband the guild and reform. Unless there is a wait period before the same guild tag can be put back into circulation.
As far as holding on to the name, its pretty important that we make the change sooner rather than later. Especially since a lot of RP would be impacted, not to mention the past week of straightweb design that I've been working on. lol
I have to say, disbanding a guild isn't my area of expertise, but it might be something I'll have to test on Test Center to get some more information on it.

There should not be any wait time once you disband, it should be available again right after. One thing to remember though, when you disband you will have to reinvite everyone and the guild hall you use to recreate it will have to be redeeded and replaced for it to free from the old guild (I think. If you actual disband it might free it up automatically, but if not, you'd need to replace it.)

CSR replied:
Hello,
This is CSR-JoseO. When you change your guild's name you also have to change the tag, otherwise the name change might not go through...[standard ticket closing stuff]
So, its a bit conflicting. The CSR says the change MAY not go through if the tag isn't changed. Which doesn't surprise me. The conflict though is he doesn't sayit definitivly, so what you said, Rothin, could still be true I suppose.
/sigh who knows. I'll figure something out I guess lol.
Thanks for the help
.

From that, I'd say it is more likely that it won't go through unless you change both. I'll see if I can get some clarification though.
