In short, group sizes need to be reduced, sign below if you agree. If you have the will to do so, or if you are undecided on the issue,I would urge you to continue reading the rest of the post.

This is a petition to reduce the maximum number of people allowed in a group in Star Wars Galaxies. Currently the number is set at 20, which, in my opinion and various other people who I've talked to about the issue both in-game and on the forums, is simply too much. Most other MMO's have groups that range more from 5-10, yet for some reason SWG has an abnormally large group size (made even more strange by the fact thatthe vast majority ofencounters do not require this many people). The downfalls of this is that it makes groups very disorganized: hard to keep track of where everyone is, what you're supposed to do (chat spam increases a lot), and general organization. This leads to an experience that is not as fun, nor is it as immersive as Star Wars Galaxies should be.

Now, yes it is possible to simply split people into more groups to make groups smaller, but in the end this really doesn't work. As is the case with online games such as SWG people show up on the fly at all times, and need to be added to a group. Without helpful raid UI tools it becomes very hard to figure out where new people should go (or even form groupsduring the assembly of a raid or hunt team), and they end up just getting invited by whichever group leader can get to them first. Even if the groups did not want them, you cannot let someone go solo so they end up getting invited anyways. This process continues and continues until the groups are all sorts of sizes, many of them being too big for what is needed.

With smaller group sizes comes better communication (less chat spam), easier organization and increased use of tactics, which, in the end, simply makes for PvP and PvE encounters to involve more strategy and tactics then ever before, and making the experience more enjoyable for everyone since it is less confusing.

Though this petition is not asking for a specific amount of people groups should be able to hold, I personally would say less then half of what it is currently, so basically below 10 (the ideal number is 8, in my opinion).

Anyways, please sign below. Hopefully the Devs such as TH, Tiggs or anyone will read this and pass it on to the rest of the development team.

I don't see this as a problem. If you really want small groups, it is up to the group leader to limit the group size. I don't see any logical reason why SOE should make this limitation. If the group UI allowed it, I would request the group limit be lifted and you can have as large a group as you want, but then you would have a hard time trying to find someone in the group list.

Unfortunately I would also have to disagree. When I group with my guild there is not much chatter except on the task that we have to do. I think its more of the discipline of the players. Also chat programs such as ventrilo and team speak help a ton to keep things organized. Now you are absolutely correct when saying that most things in the game, not all, do not need 20 people in a group but I've done things with nearly that many people not because we needed it but because we all wanted to hunt together and have fun. And its safer when we are all together. We can see the HAM of our people and try to pull what ever is agroing them off and heal them as well. Now I've played games where you can not have this many people in a group and some times I wish you could but you just make things work. And please understand I am not trying to put down this idea I just don't think it is really needed.

In some locations you need a full group(DWB) and removing it because some people have no discipline doesn't make sense. If there are to many people in your group kick them, it's not like they are in therew forever.

Please don't start petitions on this forum. We're a little above that level here and feel that true discussions hold more merit than a petition with no depth. The developers have stated that they do not read petitions and thus you're just wasting time by making it. However, if you wish to start a thread to discuss the dynamics and mechanics of group sizes feel free and I'll comment there.

Your welcome to start a discussion about this but a petition is not needed.
