Thread: Suggestion: Grouping raises group lvl

It would be awesome that if for every lvl 80 person in the group the group lvl would raise 1 point.

Example:

8 - Lvl 80 players = Group lvl 88 (this would allow tackling lvl 90 creatures/bases ... etc)

4 - Lvl 80 players = Group lvl 84

This would have several advantages

1. Krayt lvls can be raised so the big guys are UnSoloable... In turn they drop more permium loot

2. Groups can have a challenge. Currently a group of 4 lvl 80's can mow through lvl 82 missions with only firing off 1 special andthen default attacking.

3. Everyone has a role. Currently our tanks have to take off their armor so our CM can get healing XP.

Please post thoughts / Suggestions

They are making Elite Creatures / Boss NPCs that take groups to take down so things like Krayts will fall into this category. Group levels won't need to be raised with the way this new system will work. They won't be soloable but will take a group to take out.

So far from what i have seen of elite mobs (which isnt much as i cant re-spec after 25 hours) is that they do have more HAM and do do a lot more damage.

That I'm not sure about, haven't seen the mobs yet. But I'd assume thats part of it as well as resistances to specials and things like that to make the encounter harder.

Sure thing, I'm sure this new system will still need some work so suggestions and such are a good thing.

My idea is that it could be level adding.

Group of 8 -> CL80x8 = CL640

Group of 4 -> CL80x4 = CL240

Group of 2 -> CL80x2 = CL160

Then readjust all MOBs and NPCs according to how difficult they should be and the value of loot drops. Solo play can go up to level 80 and still stand a chance to win, but to take on the tougher ones would require a group.

The bad thing about raising the levels like that is that they would then need to rebalance all high end content to be so high level that it instantly kills anyone who comes within its aggro range by making it deal out say 40k damage per hit or more since the damage is based on level. It would also have its health adversly raised whereas player damage would be the same. So I don't think it'd work out very well.

At the same time, if a Krayt was say CL 600, you MUST have every single person level 80. You couldn't allow a friend who is say 42, or 54 to tag along because it would hurt the group level and they couldn't take out the creature. By makign all groups level 80 and makign elite boss mobs etc.. it allows them to balance it for a full group, but not a full group of 8 level 80 people. It encourages a novice / master relationship more which is more healthy for grouping in the long run.

But think it through. Is it that bad that a Krayt does 40k damage to a solo level 80 player? It should only be takable by the most powerful of groups. A group with a CL 54 player in it, would need to attack something that is in their class.

Yes, it is that bad. It seperates guilds more. "Oh, I'm sorry you're too low. Only Level 80 guild members can come on our hunts and events." Is that really how you would want it to be? The way it's set up you can still bring along people who aren't level 80 and have a good time. I wouldn't want that to change so you had to be elite just to be in the group. It also further seperates half combat players who take up crafting or entertaining along with combat and that just isn't a good thing.

hehe

We'll see how things play out and recommend adjustments if they're needed though. You never know, it may end up the other way anyways.
