Thread: Can't hunt with low CL toons. :(

Don't hold your breath waiting for this fix. The LEVEL system was a DISASTER to every aspect of this game. BE's CH, low cl players and especially those who try to help them. Until the LEVEL sytem is thrown out this game is a disaster.
Amen!
One of the greatest strengths of this game came from the fact that a vet could help a rookie. I played WoW for a bit, and am part of a guild there, but there's no guild togetherness, because the lower level toons can't be anywhere NEAR where the higher level toons can be. I asked Ronda Scott at the LA booth at Celebration 3 about this, and she told me the devs were looking at doing something similar to the "sidekick" thing in City of Heroes. Of course, I've never played CoH, so I have NO clue whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, implementation wise. Copying your system directly from another game just seems like a total copout.
Someone mentioned the similarity to EQ2. I wouldn't be at all surprised that the devs are trying to fit that style of game into this one. I'm actually losing members because they can't level on their own, and they can't level with us. Something needs to be done, and FAST!

Why can't they level with you? Besides the bug of creatures sometimes changing levels, we've had low level players in our guild play with higher level (75+) and get great exp and move quickly through their skills. If anything, a veteran player can help a novice MORE now with the CU. Just a lot more needs to be done about the level thing, too much is based on CLvl. Defense, damage, mitigation, etc.. should NOT be based on the difference between levels but should have a range per level. Makes much more sense that way and wouldn't cause artisans and the like to get insta DBed by anything 3-4 levels above them.
I never said they couldn't. I'm just referencing that bug. I'm just stating what I found in WoW vs SWG. I like that SWG allows different skill levels to group up. In WoW you were stuck within your own level range, for the most part. Of course, I can't really test this out in SWG, as the lower level toons in our group are on the verge of cancelling their accounts. One of them is keeping her account open long enough for the 1 year vet reward and then she's out, as she's not having much fun at all (she was an entertainer pre-CU, post CU, she was going to go for MSL/MCM). She attempted to level at her level, but it was very long and very frustrating. I know, that encourages grouping with higher levels, however, what if the "higher levels" aren't on and she's on by herself?
And not all professions are as balanced as they should be, or working like they were intended. In all, I agree with your post, too bad you're not on the combat design team ![]()
IMO it is a bug, nothing more. And it seems to be totally random.....I have been in groups withs levels 20-80. missionA (fambas) fine all level 81. Mission b fine also (more fambas) Mission C same group again fambas, they switch to level 22 at close range.....
I haven't hunted Naboo, but the mission CL shifting bug happens a lot on Dant on Lowca. Haven't seen it happen on Talus yet though, or on Lok. I've had my CL 10 hunt with a CL 80 on Corellia and the missions didn't shift. But we didn't hunt long enough for a good test as he had to leave suddenly for RL stuf. When the Dant CL-shifting occured, I never thought to ask what the CLs of the folks in the group were, but we all had missions and some down-shifted while others stayed CL 82 the entire lair. And I was involved in a LOT of Dant missions, so I don't think the CL differences between players is the problem.
I have had this bug solo.
I approach a lair, and surrounding it are two lvl 62 Quenkers (I'm lvl 62). I attack one and I noticed the damage was no where near what it should be. I then noticed it had dropped to lvl 27. The other one was still lvl 62. When I targeted it, it changed to lvl 27 as it approached me.
I walked around to the other side of the lair and popped two more. The one nearest me was lvl 62, the one far from me (basically where I had been standing before) was lvl 27.
I killed the lvl 62, then the lvl 27 and popped the last 2 from the lair. They both spawned at lvl 62. I aggroed both and ran around, both remained at lvl 62. I then headed to the spot I had been standing originally. As soon as I got close, both became lvl 27.
Server boundary? Perhaps, but I have no idea where these boundaries are.
