Thread: Recruitment and the guild terminal

Just an idea, but I noticed the other night that the guild terminal is not accessible to non guild members. In that they can't see the "Information" option on the radial. So they can't see who the guild leader is, they can't see how many people are in the guild, and they may not know what the guild tag is.

A lot of people recruit via direct communication and /tell's with people, but the question has to be asked... why can't people request to join up 'direct' so to speak. Why do you have to go through the sponsorship route. Sure some guilds might want to restrict recruitment, but some guilds might be happy to take anyone that signs up, or they may want to see who signs up, then check these people out before accepting them.

At least if the 'new player' looking for a guild knew who to contact and could 'sign themselves up' for enlistment, it may smooth the process out a bit. I currently drop a vendor in the guildhall to do a custom bark, but this could easily be fixed by allowing newbies to see that single Guild Information screen (as simple asthat screenis).

A seperate idea and probably way off in dream land is the idea of an NPC Recruiter for the guild that can be dropped like a vendor and given a custom bark, advertising the guild. Maybe you'd get 1 or 2 with each guildhall you have. I could see something useful like that for city information NPCs as well.

A recruiter vendor-type NPC is a GREAT idea!

Give guild leaders the abilities of a Master Merchant on that one NPC, so you can dress him how you'd like, program his speech, and give people the option of using a radial menu to apply for your PA

I don't think either one of these suggestions are really far-fetched. It is all a matter of how much development time they will give us.

I love this idea to have like a option to the public that if they want to signup to the guild a recruiter could accept them in or just the guildleader...

This is a fantastic idea. I especially like the idea of the NPC Guild Recruiter. I would imagine that the radial menu on the Guild Recruiter would include the basic "Examine" option and then there would be the "Submit Application" option. When they hit on the "Submit Application" button they will be shown a small menu with a description of the guild that has been written by the guild leader. This would show the guild hopeful what that particular guild is looking for in new members. At the bottom of the menu is then the "Cancel" button and the "Apply" button. After selecting "Apply" a system message runs across that player's screen saying that "You have announced your desire to join <guild name>."

Now this would send an e-mail to the guild leader and reads something like this. "<Player's name>has expressed his/her interest in joining <guild name>" After that the regular process of accepting a new guild member ghoes on like it always has.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking. Streamline the whole application/sponsorship process, and give the 'recruitee' more power to sign up at their convenience.

This is a great idea, and should'nt be too hard to implement. Most, if not all of the mechanics are already in place.
