Thread: Factional PAs Brainstorm

While we wait for word on the "when" of future PA developments (I ask the question often enough not to be forgotten, but not so often that my words are avoided ) let's get our ducks in a row on the topic of factional PAs. When our time comes, boy will we be ready. *grins*

The first step will be brainstorming! Here are some questions to consider:

1. How does a PA become aligned to a faction? What is required? Can a PA ever lose its factional status?

2. What sort of perks would be available to factional PAs, at what cost?

3. What would you NOT want to see in a factional PA system?

*** Please consider the current development systems in game when writing your responses. For example, it may be easier to give PAs some flavor of faction perks that are already in game and buy them from existing faction recruiters than creating entirely new perks and special PA recruiters. Asking for additions or tweaks vs. asking for whole new developmentcan mean the difference between getting something and getting nothing. Completely new development is absolutely needed in some areas, but we should be selective about where we ask for it. ***

Allow the opposing faction to be put on the ban list or better yet have it default to that. Because of this you would also want to have a new unban list to allow a select few rebels or imperials to enter the PA hall.

It would also be interesting if the Banner like structures on the generic/all but tat PA halls get replaced with the imperial or rebel crest type banner.

  1. I think it should be automatically tallied during its 'voting' cycle... (whatever that is, I think that also needs to be displayed), and it simply calculates Imperial Factions/Neutral/Rebel Factioned. Overt/covert shouldn't matter, it should treat coverts asa member of their factionfor the tally.

  2. I think the perks should have no cost and be decorative in nature, faction banners, faction symbols etc. Maybe the guild hall could also appear in the faction filter in CTRL-V... If you're factioned at the moment, you can see factioned gardens and DHQs in the faction category on the map. I think Factioned guildhalls should also appear so that other members of your faction can easily see PAs on that planet that they may want to join.

  3. I wouldn't want to see a permanent PvP system whereby if the PA is factionalised its forced overt or anything. Having a factionalised PA should simply be for visibly declararing which side you are on, display the banners, show off the flag, etc.

Another idea I got...allow faction terminals right next to the guild terminal. If you are a dedicated representative of this or that faction you should be able to get information from them at your base of operatoins. If this isn't possible because it is inside of a building then have it be on the roof portion similiar to the rebel terminals at Doaba Guerfel (I think that's the one I haven't been back in a long time so it may have changed)

"1. How does a PA become aligned to a faction? What is required? Can a PA ever lose its factional status?"

I think the best way to do it would be to simply allow the guild leader to declare that the PA is aligned towards a particular faction. But, a PA has to be made up entirely of members of that faction to align itself, and only members of that faction can be recruited to the PA later. Perhaps neutrals could be sponsored, but only accepted once they have joined.

"2. What sort of perks would be available to factional PAs, at what cost?"

Leaders of aligned PAs would be able to hire faction recruiters (much like a mayor can hire trainers... mayors should be able to hire recruiters too now that I think on it) to place in their PA halls. Maybe these could cost faction points. Also, they should be able to requisition special factional furniture (ie flags, banners, cool warroom stuff, etc) from the recruiters, or possibly requisition schematics for them so architects can create them. I can see problems with this already though: the devs may intend factional recruiters to be restricted to static locations and actual faction bases. Also, if I'm not mistaken they don't intend to add any content (such as furniture) available only to PAs and not to the other players. Perhaps another perk would be that a factioned PA can hide its PA tag from people who are not in its particular faction. ie all rebels can see what PA the members of a rebel-aligned PA are in, but imperials and neutrals cannot see their PA tags.

"3. What would you NOT want to see in a factional PA system?"

I would not like to see aligned PAs forced into some kind of overt status.

(please note some ofmy answers are similar or the same to others, took the words out of my mouth)

1. How does a PA become aligned to a faction? What is required? Can a PA ever lose its factional status?

A) A Guild(pa) could become aligned by registering at a recruiter, coordinator or new type of factioned npc. Or at the guild management terminal.

B) Requirements could be (if possible to detect) that all members are of that faction or neutral. Or cost faction points.

C) Yes, a Guild should be able to take away its factional status at a loss of any perks given by aligning your pa.

2. What sort of perks would be available to factional PAs, at what cost?

A) Some perks could be:

Faction flags on the outside of the PA hall

Recruiter inside the PA hall

Imperial mission terminals outside PA hall (yes player cities can provide that already)

Mine Fields attached to structure near entrance

Special (possibly customizable) faction/guild uniforms (possible schematics then craftable by a tailor/armorsmith for customization)

Special furniture and decorations

Ability for a pa to pool faction (like a fp treasury)

Not only for PA halls, but all structures owned by a player in a faction aligned PA, the ability to ban an entire faction from your home/busniess

3. What would you NOT want to see in a factional PA system?

Forced overt status from aligning your pa

(all i can think of/agree with for now, might edit later)

A PA Faction Point "treasury" would be a fantastically usefull thing. provided only say, the PA Leader can access it as opposed to any admin, otherwise devs will see it as a getaround for the FP transfer penalties

This is a fantastic brainstorm Jasentia. With the GCW revamp coming up (soon-ish), this would be a very good thing to present to the devs along with other PA issues.

Lets focus on things that would enrich the game for everyone. By that I mean, not only Rebel and Imperial, but all the neutral PA's and the role they will play as well.

Lots and lots of players are part of PA's and this is a great focus for the GCW and the rolePAs play in the galaxy.

For question two:

Factioned patrols, and a couple NPC's guarding the PA hall entrance. Sort of like a base, but the size of the PA classifies how many "patrol groups" can be sent out. PA leaders can assign spawn points for patrols in a 500m radius. Rebels would get basic NPC's, mabye attack droids (they need something better then regular troopers),Neuturals can get whatever the local defence force is.(i.e. Naboo = RSF, Corellia CorSec, Nyms Nyms guys, etc)Imperials get troopers, if the PA has over 50 members an AT-ST guarding the PA hall or patrolling the area, or mabye even if the PA has over 100 players an AT-AT . Of course each trooper/item bought would cost a lot of credits/fp.

I know most of it is wishful thinking, and I might get flamed for it, but this is a brainstorm thread, and thats what im doing.
