Any leaders of successful guilds have a tip for me on starting a guild? I currently have 2 members in my guild (not including myself) and it will be disbanded if I can't get some more people.

I have posted an add in the galaxy forum, but that did not get a significant response. I have tried spamming in cities to join. My bio is a recruitment add. I talk to unguilded people to see if they are interested... oi, but nothing

What was your technique for recruitment?

Group up with people over time you'll get to know them and maybe they will join you.

One piece of advise I can offer you is this... Don't rush it. When I was in charge of my guild on Chimaera we've always had a waiting list, and at points it was quite long, and you feel pressured to recruit them all. This is something I don't recommend, get to know everyone. It will only benefit you in the long run.

Spamming in towns could yeild some interest but you'll get a lot of people that would be almost anonoumous within your guild, tho u may get the odd gem now and again.

I'm not a guild leader, but I was recently looking for a new guild (my old one disbanded)

Here are a few turn offs for recruitment:

Spamming in cities. First, its annoying to all those who arent looking for a guild and gives the guild a bad reputation. It also screams "we will take those people who are too annoying to be accepted by other guilds"

Random email. Nothing says "delete me" more than a spam email from a total stranger asking me to join their guild. If you do send out recruitment emails send them directly rather than forwarding a canned advertisement.

Random tells. This is a bit less annoying but still a negative. If you do resort to this be willing to have a conversation, explain your guild's goals and atmosphere.

The way I like to be approached is by getting to know at least one person in the guild first. Invite people into hunting groups. Talk to people in social settings (med center, cantina, starport) be interested in what they are doing and tell them what you like to do.

You should also have something in mind that you want your guild to be: serious roleplay, casual friends, close knit family, hardcore PvP, silly jokesters, etc. A guild can be more than one thing, if so be sure to say that.

Its also good to let people know your guild goals, if any: Become a big guild with huge membership, have thriving metropolis, be known as the best craftsman, be known as the toughest PvPers, build and defend your own faction base, create the most complex and engaging roleplay stories possible, etc

Remember people are looking for a guild that will help them achieve their personal goals and give themselves the most fun, by seeking members who are looking for the same things from the game as yourself you'll have a stronger and longer lasting guild.

Two words: NEW PLAYERS.

Truth is, many new players are desperate to get intoa guild, and helping a new player out pays off. I helped recruit a couple of players, just starting out, and now we have a new TKA/Smuggler in the guild. Just group with a new player, help him/her rake in the XP, then slip an invite. Besides, its better to have a guild with 30 novice brawlers fora week or twothan a guild with a TKM and a Master Commando for eternity.

well it took about 10 minutes of spamming (which i did not want to have to do ) in AH to get the required people . its nice because they weren't complete newbies and seem to all be good people. so i lucked out, and can rest easy knowing that my guild wont self destruct anymore because i have enough members.

thanks for the tips guys.

I usually talk to people about what they are looking for in a PA.

Most of the time they are new, looking for help, and not having anyone to ask or even a friend to help them get along in the first hard days of playing.

I generally start a conversation about their expectations as far as what they want to do in SWG as a profession, how to go about it, where the best places to go , and people they should contact. If they are interested in our guild, I ask them along on hunts, even if they have little or no experience. It helps them, gets us time to know them, and it is a lot of fun besides. Especially when they see that first Krayt.

I do a few other things too. I remember not having anything but the blaster and a few credits to start with so I give them about 5K to start off with and a better blaster if I have it. This works well too. They don't forget the help or the advice. I have recruited more people this way.

One I met in the Mining Outpost on Dant. Someone, who was evidently trying to get this person killed, told her that Dantooine was a great place to start to get XP asn a newbie. I set her straight on that score, gave her some bucks, a vehicle, and some real good advice about fighting critters outside of Theed.

She was on the next day asking to join. She becomes a member next week.

von , your on ahazi....

there is 2 main ways i recruit....

I take in semi advanced people/ semi newb... Who have good personalities or whatever, and then teach them how too kick ass. Leaving me in 3 weeks-month a nice good goon squad....

Or i some how get in a good conversation with an unguilded rebel and ask if they want to join....

Otherwise you have to let them come to you...

Being in a city helps recruitment, Offering bonus packages to those who join(to improve there charecter),

Or having a good set goaland system/inerworking for your pa that attracts people.
