No, your members have to vote for the new leader

guild leadership falls to whomever has the guild hall on their lots so to transfer leadership...have the lots free and do a /transferstructure. The voting is for cities not guilds.

There is a Player Association board (PA) you may want to check out. It is listed under Professions.

Here's a response to your question from the FAQ found there...

Q: Can we oust our guild leader and replace him with a new one?
A: Technically you should be able to do that. You'll need over half of your members to declare allegiance to the new leader. Then once the weekly update checks come through, the new leader will be instated.

Where did you get that from?

To elect a new guild leader you must go to the guild terminal and set allegiance to him/her. In fact it works identical to how a city works, if 51% of the votes go to the new person they become the guild leader. It has nothing to do with who owns the guild hall at all. I know this because I have been a guild leader for a long time and the guild hall has never been on My lots.

The leader of the Guilds usually starts out as whoever placed the Guild Hall because they are usually the one who goes to the Guild Management terminal and creates the Guild.

By default all members set allegience to the person who created the Guild. However, any member can go the the Guild Management terminal and select someone else and set their allegience to them. The Leader of the Guild is whoever has the most people with their allegience set to them.

Who owns the Guild Hall is irrelevent. Any Guild Hall placed by any member of the Guild becomes a Guild Hall of the Guild automatically. You can have as many Guild Halls in a Guild as there are members of the Guild if you really want. Every Guild Management terminal in the Guild acts the same way.

If you remove the Guild Hall the Guild will still function properly, just without access to a Guild Management terminal, so no one can set allegience, no new members can be added, etc.

I hope this helps.

Enjoy

Not true. One of my friends has the hall, but I'm still the leader. Granted that I set it down in the first place and created the guild, but I used the /transferstructure command and I'm still da boss. I even left the guild I created for a short period of 2 days (RP reason), but when I came back, I was still the leader. Just goes to show that some screwed up stuff happens with guilds and leadership. lol

Indeed it is not true. The guild leader is the person who first started the guild on the guild terminal. As far as I know you don't even have to have placed the hall. I am my guild's leader, but I don't hold the guild hall, someone else does.

confirmed. The first person who places the guild terminal is the guild leader. After that, he/she can transfer it to anyone without losing leader rank.

voting is for cities and guilds.

Also - you can have the guild leader leave the guild and ask everyone to vote on one person. This will bypass the need for 51% to vote for someone.
