Thread: PA Scheduled Development?

Before I begin, allow me to Introduce myself. I am General Kazar Racillen of Echo Battalion. I am a PA leader and have been since day 1 (well, since the official release). I have been keeping fairly up to date on this forum as it is in my best interest to know what is down the pipe for player associations. I feel that our correspondant has done a great job in determining our needs and relaying them to the devs, but I would like to see a timeline for our changes.

Right now it seems the devs are focusing each publish on a specific profession. At the rate they are going, PAs are going to get there revamp in 6 months or longer. I would much rather has a small change every publish towards a goal of a revamped PA system. Here is my proposed schedule.

Publish 10

Placeable Guild Terminals - This can solve the problem of PA halls taking of 9 lots. Instead you place a Guild terminal in any house so PA leaders are not limited.

Recruiting System - This is something similar to Merchant droids, so it should be easy to code but have a guild droid that can be set on patrol that describes a PA and their goals Anyone interested in joining can tell the droid, and the leader would get an email.

Publish 11

Guild Ranks - We are desperately in need aguild rank system where ranks can be names and members can be promoted and demoted. The rank a member holds determines what previledge they have.

Publish 12

MOTD - When a member logs into SWG, they get a message appear (either in chat or on the main screen)

Guild List - CTRL-P should list all guild members (and a filter for online members). The list should also indicate when the player last logged on

Publish 13

Guild alliances andwars- This is probably the biggest PA feature we need. We need a system where guilds can ally themselves with other guilds and share a chatroom (permenant one) and guilds can war with other guilds or alliances.

Guild Statistics -In other MMORPGs, guilds get statistics that can be used to compare guilds in a competitive style. Stats that can be maintained are GCW deaths vs kills (PvP only) or number of members. This will go well with a good guild alliance and war system.

Now I am not expecting the devs to bow down and follow my schedule, but I would very much like to see schedule so I know what my guild and I can look forward to.

You brought up some excellent points. My main compliants with the guild terminal is it needs to becleaned up and made easier to use. To assign ranks you shouldn't have to click on each name then title then ok. I would like to see something where you can assign all new members Initiates or whatever your guild rank is for new member. And maybe after a certain amount of active playtime you could gain the next rank. Or if you could assign permissions to groups like your officers etc. There are other things that could be implemented into the guild terminal.

Just my 2 cents

I agree. A guild leader SHOULD be able to set permissions to a rank class. I also like the allied-guild chatroom idea. The issue with being able to move the PA management terminals is something they might not change -- a guild is an important feature of the game, and if it becomes TOO easy to manage (by being able to move terminals to a 1 lot house) then it seems less significant -- a PA is important, and that is reflected in tying up 7 or 9 lots.

The list of what is and isn't allowed in names, titles, etc, is a list given to SOE by LucasArts and is not negotiable. So, it's not their fault, they are just doing what they are required to do as part of the Star Wars licence.

Not assigning ranks is a major pain. I can't believe the game won't even allow me to manually give people ranks to my members because forsome reason they feel the need to disallow those names. I guess Private, Captian, and Commander are swear words or something.

With the recent changes in the schedule, we may or may not get some attention. I'm really starting with our rock bottom easiest fixes, like alphabetizing the list on the guild management terminal. If that can't be worked in, then it is tough to expect much more. I've tossed in our requests, again, along with all of the other Correspondents. We can only wait and see what they have time to work into the schedule before JTL.

The most broken stuff typicallycomes first, and in terms of usage and activity PAs are far frombroken. They are just extremely shallow.

I would not expect any significant changes to the PA system for 2 - 3 years. I'm not kidding. They have JTL, combat balance, GCW etc... this is all major work. The combat balance has been put off for several months. Also, the PA issues affect really only guild leaders which are a small percentage of the population and really doesn't affect guild members. As much as I want a more user friendly PA system, I think SEO is doing the right thing by leaving PA's at the bottom of the list since other issues affect us as well.

I agree with Jascentia , there is nothing broken, it's just not that user friendly. We'll have to be patient!

I would be happy with minor adjustments as well but like they said theres nothing really broken with our PAs so it maybe a long time coming.

It would be nice to be able to go covert in a guild war. Many of my crafters dont care to killed randomly with no defence, so adding a way for them to stay out if the war would be really nice for both sides
