Thread: Guild Member possible theft. Advice?

I was recently informed by an outside member that one of our members stole some stuff from them while temporarily granted Admin rights to their house in order to slice some weapons. Some specific items were taken from a pack. Unfortunately this player in my guild has gone out of town for a month, so I can't specifically deal with them for a month or so. I told them I'd see what I can do, but I would prefer to have a CSR look into it, as they would probably have the best proof.

What would or have you done in these types of situations? I don't want our guild reputation damaged, but I also don't want to take action against somebody who I have no proof of actually doing anything. My gut reaction is that maybe they did it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would sugest that u contact a CSR they might see if the items was stolen or if they have vanished, hopefully they just dissapeared and could be brought back by a CSR

How fond are you of this member of yours? is he a particular trustee or not?

If not, and he's been gone for quite a while, just kick him out to restore your good name.

if so, do contact csr to see if anything can be done (doubtful, but you can try)

wow Im glad your not my guild leader. First dont invite guildmembers in tor your guild that you think may be shady.

CSR first. This game is still to buggy to be be frist placing blame on someone before the game. If CSR refuses to deal with ti(after many petitions) Then i would talk to the member(would also ask him the moment he returns and let him know waht the issues and that you having alrdy petitions for the lost items). If he did steal them letting him know about the CSR possible interfeiring might make him return the items. CSR might be a bit harsher then the guild will be.

Since that person was listed on the admin list by the owner of the house freely, a CSR will not be able to help with returning/checking logs to see if any items were taken by who. The only thing you can do is make sure that person is removed from the list so it can not happen again and take greater care in the future who is listed on that house as some people can't deal with the temptations of having access.

As a guild leader of many years through multiple games, the first thing to do is prevent it from being able to happen again, whether this person did it or not (Remove everyone but the owner from admin). Once the person is back from out of town, innocently ask them about the ordeal to see if they took anything from the house. Do not acuse them and force them to go on the defensive, but simply ask them if they did it. If they admit it, ask them to return the item. If they deny it, then it's up to your gut instincts on what to do about the situation.

If the person is guilty of theft, in my guild the only action I would take is to remove them from the guild. I don't tolerate it. We help everyone out and provide for all, so anyone who would take something is greedy. But.. it's up to you what to actually do.

I had the same thing happen to me. I contacted the CSR's and they were very helpful. They contacted me within 24hrs and checked their logs and told me who had stolen items from my house. You will need to have some basic information though, such as what the name of the pack was and what items were taken. It is best to have the person whose items were stolen contact the CSR's also. They were very helpful to me. Hope they can help you too =)

sorry, but since you're not on chimaera, and you have never met any of my members, I don't think you can be a judge for my advice here. it was very possible for you just to post your advice here, without insulting the ways of the desert sun ^_^. (sorry, I'm bad at accepting worthless criticism)
