I will be at the Combat Summit which will come up in a while. All Correspondents, even those that are not directly involved in combat have been invited.

While I will do my best to get a word in specifically for PAs when I can... It is very clear that combat will be the focus of this gathering. Guildwar is the only aspect of PAs that is mechanically tied in to the combat system, soI am thinking about broader concepts I could bring to the table in addition to guildwar.

Ultimately, PAs are all about cooperation. A PA happens when different people join up for a common cause/goal. In a way, combat/mission groups are just a smaller more temporary reflection of the same concept. What would you like to see brought up or discussed that relates to the social /cooperation/leadership aspects of combat?

Guildwar (with guild fued addition, allowing for covert combatants) Any last suggestions for this? Or is the idea good as is?

Solo Groups - What do you think of them? Is it great and efficient, or is it antisocial?

How is the balance of interdependancy in combat? Does it favor soloers/groupers too much/little? Are there any combat characters that are unwelcome in groups?

Grouping interface - Any critiques or suggestions?

Try to view these questions from the overall perspective of socialization and combat. The questions will already be represented from aprofession point of view by the other Correspondents.

I think that the guild war idea we've talked about on the forums is a great first step. We'd really need to see it implemented before we could try to refine it more I believe.

I think Solo groups are the reason a lot of people keep playing right now. It's not that people are anti social, it's just that a lot of people like the sense of "doing it yourself.' Solo groups also give people the ability to make more credits (something that will always drive the playerbase) and draw the higher missions. Personally, I use solo groups all the time, and usually some nice chats still evolve in the group chat. I don't think it'd be wise for the developers to change anything about solo groups without addressing a lot of other areas first. Unless of course they let people draw higher missions without grouping in a solo.

I think it varies between the different combat professions. You see a lot more frequency of some more than others. For instance, you see a lot more TKs than anything else really due to the speed and damage they can deal out fast. Same goes with Rifleman and Combat Medics for the serious mind damage they can inflict. Until we really have a reason to group that is appealing and fun (not just something we have to do to make it through parts of the DWB or other high end contents) I believe most people will still solo and shun most professions to fight with. (Another point to go solo is for experience. If you fight with someone else you lose half the experience or more, especially if you're new and they're an elite profession master. I think they need to divide the combat/weapons xp evenly throughout the group like back in beta! That's when I actually enjoyed grouping.)

I have a few different issues with the grouping interface and the interface in general.

1. If you're in a full group of 20, it takes up a very large portion of your screen unless you scroll it up to one person. We need a way to show group members without taking up so much of the screen. How to do it.. I'm not sure. But I am sure there has to be a way!

2. This is something I miss from EQ and would like to see.. but a cutomizable interface like in EQ. Designed in XML and let people really choose how their entire interface looked. At the very least.. I think they should add percentages to the HAM bars to show you what % life health, action, or mind you have left as well as seeing the colors and hard numbers. That can't be too hard to add.

Those are a few things I can think of off the top of my head. The interface just needs a complete redesign overall I think. While you can resize windows, you still need more options. No matter how I phrase it.. just needs to be more like EQ! lol

I'm not sure if this fits under grouping interface, but two things that are always a pain:

1. You cannot /makeleader someone who is far away. The number of times you find yourself wanting to be able to do this is definitely often enough to warrent it being fixed at some point. Probably not before a lot of other things though

2. You cannot kick someone out of a group who is far away. As a group leader, unless someone is causing grief, 99% of the time I only need to kick someone out of a group because they have fallen behind and aren't doing the same thing that the group is any more. Usually they aren't paying attention to the group chat or have gone afk, and so you are stuck with people cluttering up the group menu who aren't actually playing as part of the group any more. Again, there are much more pressing combat issues than this, but I thought I would mention it just in case

Solo grouping

The only way to fix solo grouping imo is to make missons correspond to your lvl..Most templates can breeze missons with a difficulty of 240 or more np at all.

This is why we have to solo group just to get missons suitable for our templates..its just plain stupid and wrong to have to rely on a group of 10 or more just to take missons that remotly challange us. (of which there are no missons even in a maxed group that do this for most combat templates atm)

If you want to encourage grouping as it was intended then make big group missons worhtwhile IE dark jedi knightmissons everyone in the group then needs to work together as intended (although this brings problems in misson payout and loot rights)

In other words the misson system needs the REVAMP
