Thread: Guild Leader removal to change leadership confirmation

It's a pain to try and get the 51% votes to change leadership before the end of your PA cycle which you have no hope of remembering when it is. Since I had recruitment permissions we decided to try having the GL remove himself when he retired and left it to me.

I can confirm positively that this works. I had someone set allegiance to me, then he left the guild. About 5 days later everyone got the e-mail that I was now GL and he came back. I can garuntee with absolute certainty that I did not have over 50% allegience from the guild.

So it works.

Thanks very much for thisreport. We'll get it in the FAQ for how to change Guild Leaders. I assume this would only work if a member declares allegience *before* the guildleader leaves the guild, and not after. If the guild leader has already left, I imagine a guild will have to go through the regular Allegience process.

Jas, we could try to set up a PA on TC and test this theory again with both having someone set it beforehand and set it after and see if both ways work or only one. Then I can update my guide and we can share it with the community.

Yeah when I tested it, allegiance had been set before he left (and no one pledged it before it switched). So there's two possible holes:

1. Having nothing pledged before he leaves does not set it up for defaulting to the chosen leader.

2.If someone pledges allegiance after the GL leaves, it resets to the 51% system and does not default.

Hopefully both are false.

Now that I think about it the leader before me dropped himself from the guild since he changed factions. I was to take over so I set allegiance to myself and had two others do the same. Out of about 8 members this worked and I was updated as leader. This was about 6 moths ago though. This is good to know as I am leaving the game for a while and wanting to transition our new leader in smoothly and not leave her with a whole lot of stress getting people to vote.
