Though my guild is nearly over a year oldwe do not have much PVP experience. We areworking to turn that way and it seems to be going well. But we understand that we need practice somy guild leader's wife (the true guild leader :smileyvery-happy
came up with an interesting Idea and I wanted to get peoples opinions on it. She came up with an Idea to have a guild war with another guild of the same faction. Now I understand that means all guild memebers will have a permenant TEF so naturally we are trying to figure out the rules. Here are some of them
No death blows: Though this is pvp we are not looking to kill each other just practice and have fun.
Scheduled fights: This just means when we will practice at certain times maybe even just on certain days (ex. Sunday - Tuesday)
No Camping cities: No camping each others player cities.
Novice titles for non-combatants: Any one that doesnt want to fight will place a Novice title of one of the starter professions over them.
No fighting off world: No fighting on the secondary planets (the guilds we may ask are all based on corellia like us).
Now I know some of the problems with one of these. The problem with the Novice title is some one might not seem them or might not have it set to see anyones names. So all they see is a red target and goes after it. I am looking for some advise as to what else we may add as a rule. Or to tweek some of the rules we have. We will most likey do this but I just need some ideas as to how to better implement this.

For the best level of protection, you would choose your PVP nights and only activate the Guildwar on those nights. Then, when the PVP practice is concluded you could shut it off again. This would ease some of the trust issues that could potentially arise.

As Jas said, the best solution is probably to only base it oncertain nights and turn it off on others, just to make sure that no one gets accidently attacked duringit. But, with the titles thing, I would probably suggest putting it to no title instead of a novice, that way you'd only see a name.
Guild wars aren't very safe at all.. but as long as both guilds follow that ruleset, I think you'd be alright. You may want to even try setting up certain attack areas, so only those in those areas may be attacked. Then the non-fighters can simply avoid them.

Cool both your ideas fall into my Schedule fights section. Setting up certain dates and times to actually fight. I really dont like title thing at all but I needed to put the idea out there to see if some think it can work and how to tweek it. Thanks for the info I think I know how to set this up. Any more additions are also welcomed.

I think as long as no one DB'd everyone would be ok. The part of PvP that most people get ticked about is cloning and sometimes decay. They may be unprepared, unbuffed, crafting, or whatever, but I think it is the DB most people fear. Without the fear of DB, really all you face is an incap, you dont have to run back from a cloner, you dont get wounds, and a lot of people can even heal you. Plus it teaches a big lesson in being prepared. I have gotten tells from people that I attack in cities that complain that they weren't buffed or cloned or whatever other excuse and my answer (even though I usually dont respond to strings of profanity) is if your overt then be prepared. A lot of people get DB'd when shuttling in or hanging out chatting in towns because they dont bother to stay buffed, keep food ready, and armor on. So as a training tool I would only suggest excluding those people that dont desire PvP at all, and even if they get incapped, it is not that big of a deal, as long as everyone is in it for some fun and practice. Aside from a few bruised egos, no one really loses anything. You might have an occasional DB by accident, but be sure that everyone isnt running looping DB macros, or running an attack macro with DB in it.
Having set times is also good because guild wars get hairy since you never go covert again, so it lets people operate within a set time frame, much like choosing to go overt. This sounds like alot of fun and will be good practice, but you cant have too many rules because when you face up against real enemies there wont be any.

My guild had a Guild War for a weekend & it was one of my favorite experiences in SWG. Always keeping your guard up in major cities, such as Theed, was an awesome time. What added to the experience was that since I sucked at PvP(i was nov pikeman at the time), it was cool to be able to open a can on someone for once. For rules we allowed major cities & all planets, but kept cantinas & hospitals off-limits. Profession tags off to not participate. No DBs & no destroying vehicles. 5 minute wait from the time someone recovers from the incap to when you can start fighting again. Since the Guild War was between the guilds in Apotheon, the city was one dangerous place that weekend & it was amazing. Hope this kinda helps.
