I'm not a guild leader, but I think you can type in stuff. My guild leader made up all kinds of weird names for members in my guild.

basicly you can name them what you want, but they can't be words that are used in the game.

so forget army ranks.

I give them titles stating what they do (rebel co-ordinator, imperial co-ordinator, hunting advisor,...)

Right now, the guild titles in the game are custom, meaning you can assign them and name them as you wish. However, currently the filter for the guild titles is the same one used for naming your character which means that any 'official' sounding title will not be allowed. These titles includes military ranks (Private, Sergeant, Captain, Major, etc.. etc..), Things like Chancellor, Senator, Jedi, Sith, etc.. etc..

We've asked that the filter for guild titles be relaxed, but right now they have other top priorities first. You can use things like Council though.. it works as I use it in my guild to distinguish our council on the terminal.

Many guilds have come to use abbreviations in place of official titles, like Ofcr for Officer, Sgt for Sergeant, etc. While it is just a stopgap solution, it is our only option for the time being.

You should play around with it with another guild mate. See which names work and don't work and then you can probably assign ranks to people who you feel deserve them.

Since I run an Imperial Military group its a real pain, but then since you rarely see these titles I guess I focus on other problems. For the most part we use job titles like Squad Leader, Platoon Leader and Company Commander (I think). Of course my own Ego is secure as I was allowed to somehow sneak Surface Marshall in for myself

Another way that my guild leader got around the title filters is by typing the titles like t-h-i-s. For example, my title is Q-u-e-e-n
