- Eating horribly overpriced hotel food
- Eating some good food at a local soup place (soup nazi strangely absent)
- Spending way too much time inthe Lego shop at the Mall of America
- Learning about the slow process of typing for people with severe disabilities:
-hit switch to activate keyboard
-hit switch to activate second row of keyboard
-hit switch to activate left side of second row of keyboard
-hit switch to activate the letter A
- Typing my name with my eyeballs alone, just by looking at letters on an on-screen keyboard!!!
- Previewing all sorts of spiffy text to speech and speech to text software (and getting on a list forbeta)
- Winning a $900 piece of highly specialized word processing software (WYNN) for my school district
- Being aghast at the airport wanting to charge $7 for one-time use of wireless access
-Watching Fahrenheight 9/11 on my laptop on the way home
As you might've guessed, my work sent me and a few others to a conference in MN about technology to help the disabled. So, I wasn't just slacking. For some reason I thought nothing huge could happen within 3 little days.
I'm glad you all got the information you needed in my absence!

I envy you.. about the lego mall. I could have stayed in there for days.
Don't worry though, you've given us plenty of information over the many months as Correspondant, you can't let one pesky Dev ruin that fact! Now if they start giving us all the info we've been asking for, then you're in trouble.. but that could benefit us.. hmm.. decisions decisions! You can stay for now Jas! Just don't let JFreeman know you're still around! Just kidding of course. Just don't leave us again like that! lol

I work for University of New Mexico Center for Development and Disability. I'm the LAN/Security administrator and support around 200 people in 17 different disability non-profits in our building. I am the only Network engineer/administrator/pc support guy for all 200 people. But the tech coming out for the disabled.... some pretty amazing stuff wouldn't you say?
I have a lady in my building who has a severe case of MS. Uses a pretty advanced wheelchair and PC device, I am constantly amazed at the things that come out of this lady. She puts together some of the most amazing presentations and trainings I've seen. It's just shocking sometimes to see the technology being used to give these folks access to that which we all take for granted on an everyday basis.
Whenever I feel frustrated, overworked, or underappreciated in my job I always remember that there's people in this place doing things that they noone ever thought they could. When you get a chance, check out our site http://cdd.unm.edu/
