Doh! Needed to scroll down a bit more. I see this has been covered!

Why not guild allies?

Would it not improve the game experiance to create alliances in much the same way as we have wars? Selectivly share things like Guild enemies (a friend of my enemy is my enemy, an enemy of my enemy is my friend), chat channels, have their member's names selectable as a sub set of "show guild members names"...

Something like this could allow for a greater diversity of guild specializations, but keep some of the same advantages to being a part of the larger guild. It could offer a smaller guild the protection of allies to come to their aid in Guild war PvP. And a larger guild the oppertunity to keep its non-combatants in the "loop" with guild chat, but out of the line of fire by selecting not to share the main guilds enemies.

While there are methods for accomplishing some of this in other ways in the game, I suspect much more could be accomplished via an alliance system.

Any thoughts? Or am I way off base?

If you don't want me to "play the forums," then I suggest you make time playing the game more rewarding and less repetitive than "playing" here!
