Thread: Idea for Guild Wars

Sorry if this is somewhere else, but I only seen brief mentions of it, not an actually post for it.
One way to save Guild wars and make it useful. Change one, you dont need both guilds to declare war on each other, you can attack any guild that you declare war on, or one that has declared war on you. Second give people within a guild the option to go "covert", this does not take away their guild tag, just makes then not attackable by anyone that is at war with them.
I think this would increase the amount of guild wars and still keep it safe for crafters/non-combatants. Also perhaps there could be some sort of reward for slaying a certain percent of a guild. Not sure what it could be but something fun, not something to make me uber leet.
Any input on this, what do you all think?

While the intent of your idea would be good, the system you described would be VERY griefable if only one side had to declare war to fight each other. As an example Player A is in a guild and doesn't like Player B who is in a different guild. They're having an arguement and one is unbuffed, unarmed, etc.. Player A gets mad and messages someone in his guild who has permission to declare war and they goto the terminal and declare war on Player Bs guild, then Player A proceeds to kill him before he even knows what happens. Now, that's just an example of a possibility. Another one is that some guilds who like to PvP only, would go around and declare war on every guild they come across and kill unsuspecting people who didn't even know they were at war.
The only way that type of system would work is if when one guild declared war, it set everyone in both guilds to covert war status and then they had to declare to attack. But then you're basically going back toward the system we have been working on requesting for changes. It does need to be mutually accepted in my opinion though to prevent so many scenarios of possible griefing. There are quite a few guild war threads on the forums, I don't have any links off hand but there have been good discussions on them. Should be on the first few pages. Might want to try tofind those and maybe help streamline those with some of your own ideas to help improve on the overall scheme of a new system.

best thing they could do with guild wars is make it so u cant tef off it
