Hi, I was wondering how we go about removing a guild leader that hasnt been on in over 5 months.

No one that currently plays game has access to anything except myself, and i only have access to add new people.

My guild list shows 51 people in guild, but no more than 15 have been on in last 3 months.

Is there a way I can get all inactive/unpaid acct members removed so that we can have a vote using the remaining people to change guild leader? Is that an option?

Thanks.

Just disband your guild and start a new one with your active members.

psst. there's a Player Association forum.

How to Change Guild Leaders aka Set Allegiance

not sure if patch 11.2 fixed the majority rules, but yea the easiest way is to disband and reform.

I don't think you need to get rid of all the inactive members... just have the active members vote for the new guild leader.

there's an option on the guild hall terminal to declare allegiance, or something along those lines for a new leader. They must get 50% of the "vote" and it takes approx 7 days.

I would try the allegiance thing before disbanding. It is very likely that many of your members never declared allegiance to any one player, unless they were directed to do so. If you dont have the ability to disband the guild then your only option is to reform a new guild, the old guild tag can not be used unless you disband it.

Allegiance works, we just tried it with a PA on TC. Unguild any player that you know has left or hasnt been on for a long time, If you have the ability to addyou should also have the ability to unguild them. The only person youcan not unguild is thecurrent leader of the PA.This should leave you the old leader and the active members within the guild. Have the active members set allegiance to the person you want to run the guild. It takes anywhere up to a week for the PA to update.

Also remember though the new person becomes the guild leader, the PA hall is still owned by whoever placed it. If the old leader placed it, his characters will be deleted upon 6 months of inactivity including all houses and properties.

First, if you have the ability to remove members, you would want to remove those members you know have been inactive for a very long period of time.

If you can't, then you will want to try to get every active person to set allegiance to the new leader. By default, everyone in the guilds allegiance is set to the current leader, it does not function like the new city rules where only those who vote count, everyone still counts for the leader unless you specifically tell the system otherwise. It takes 51% of the guild to change the leader, if more than 50% is inactive and you can't remove them, there won't be a way to switch leadership unfortunately and you will need to reform.

Hopefully that can be avoided, but if not it may be your only option if you must have a new leader.

A while back SOE did mention they were planning on doing a character purge to remove all accounts that have been cancelled 6 months or more, but no word on when that will happen. Not sure if you would want to wait or not. But try the above mentioned methods and for info on setting allegiance click the link a couple replies up as someone linked to my guide.

Hopefully you can get it sorted out.

does the set allegiance have a time limit? ie if someone set allegiance 3 weeks ago, does that still count, or is it updated every week, etc, like cities are? Basically, do I need to get everyone to set allegiance at one time for it to work?

It does reset once a week like cities do. The day is determined by which day you originally created the guild and the various downtime the server has had. The best bet is to try to get people to set it as quickly as possible and once a week until it takes effect.
