Thread: New Guildhall layout

I feel that guildhalls should be more that just a place where vendors and misc. loots and trophies is put. It would be cool if every guild member had a room in a sublevel under the guild house.
The sublevel could be accessed using an elevator inside the guild house. Using the elevator could take you down to a room with 5 doors and every door would lead to a guild member’s room.
As the guild grows, new sublevels are automatically created and new guild members are assigned rooms by the game or by the guild leader. If the guild has 16 members the last 4 doors on the lowest sublevel cannot be opened or maybe there simply is only 1 door on the lowest sublevel.
You could also have every sublevel contain up to 20 rooms for guild members and maybe 1 large public area in the middle that could be made into cantina/crafting room/medical center or what ever the guild would choose, if the guild had more that 20 members a new sublevel would be created with the same layout incl. a public area.

What do you think?

I think it's a great idea, but given the aparent database situation with lots, I doubt they could conjure up enough item slots to let every member have a nice room.

Well, I think it can still work. Have the PA leader choose whether to enable this option or not. If they do, then they will have to inform every player that it will take up 1 of there lots to be part of the PA. Then everyone is assigned 75 items storage limit in there "room".I would like to morph the idea a bit to allow for larger rooms to be held by higher up members. They would take up 2 of there lots and let them have 150 items. The guild leader, having to bear the burden of the 7 lots should be allowed 200 items in his "room" and an additional 400 items in public areas for decoration.

I think this idea has potential. May need a bit of work, and design by the devs, but I do like it. It gives a purpose to the PA hall for all players, not just the PA leader.

I wouldn't say you would have to 'require' one lot just to join the PA, but just one if you wanted the room in the building. I also wouldn't necessarily say that you'd have to use the guild hall for this either. I think it would be much more beneficial to have a new building added a guild "Barracks" or something to that extent. It would cost the person who placed it a few lots obviously, say 4 or so. Then for anyone who wanted to 'rent' the room it would cost one lot. You could also program varying room sizes in it as well, large rooms taking up say 3 or 4 lots. Medium rooms taking 2. Small rooms taking 1. Each room would get 75 items per lot cost. Each room would also cost maintinence to maintain and would contribute to pay the overall maint of the building which would scale based on its use. The more people who use it, the more it costs to maintain but its offset by the cost of the additional rooms.

It's also a nice way to add in a 'guild vault' if you will if say there is a center room that each person who has a home there could have admin rights to, or assigned a level by the owner of the building in a seperate room and would help the guild distribute items.

I think this is starting to turn into a Player City type idea. I say we push for it as a PA hall thing (as we have an elevator that can be used to go to sublevels). I was thinking about it today, and I also thought it would be better to let people choose if they want to spend the lot to have a place. The PA version of this would be for the main PA hall only. It would be assigned by the PA leader (so he can define the officer rooms and etc...

If they get this working, it would be really cool for them to make apartment buildings with balconies that can be used in player cities.

You have to remember, not all PA buildings are the same. The tatooine building does not have any elevators, only doorwars so the elevator thing would not apply to it. That's why I suggested making this a new type of building for guilds to use in addition to that of a PA hall currently, hopefully adding a little more diversity to guilds. Right now, everyone has a PA hall. If we could add in this new building and perhaps give it the capability to function as a PA hall, but make it MUCH harder to require since it has all these new features, it would allow guilds to strive for something in game and allow some guilds to pursue it, while others choose not to.

It doesn't add a lot, but it does help a little in diversity. Otherwise, the Tatooine hall would have to be redisigned to work like the others which would then lose its appeal in my eyes. The Generic / Corellian / Naboo PA halls are identical pretty much. Each should be more unique as is.

You could have crafters create guildhall rooms. The rooms would have the same properties as houses has today, small medium and large rooms with the same lot, maintenance fee, access rights and storage capacity (actually I would prefer far larger storage capacity but I don't think we would get that). You could have the guild leader give zoning right to guild members, guild members would of course have to be citizens already if the guild hall is in a city. This way we would see over time that player cities would shrink and be more compact. Right now I think that player cities are too large and it's too difficult to maintain a decent city plan. In my guild we were lucky to place the guild hall with plenty of space for our houses, but now we have run out of space and if we get new guild member they have to put their houses a long way from the guild hall.

You could also have a billboard in the guild hall with upcoming events and also what the guild had done prior.

I don't think it would be to big a deal to add an elevator to the Tatooine guild hall (or a stair case) to get to these special rooms. The rest of the layout would remain the same.

As for the idea of a completly new building, it doesn't really matter much to me, as long as I can still run the PA out of it (last thing I need is to add another building to my list to take up my precious lots). But I would still like to have the ability to do this with the present PA hall as it has most of the work already done.

When it comes to cities, I don't see why we couldn't declare residence in our "rooms". Also I was thinking (though this is better for the polititan or architect forum) that they could implment apartment buildings that do the same, but build up. It would make a great addition to player cities and make them look a bit more bigger. Imagine the metropolis you can make.
