Before I knew what set allegiance was I accidentally set it for another member, does this mean if the guild wants to they can go vote for this member and kick me out of being leader? Is there anyway to stop it? I re-set allegiance on myself but I don't know if it worked. Also, can guild leaders be overthrown? Or does the leader have to set up the allegiance first? Please help, i'm confused and don't want to accidentally lose my guild to someone who is hardly ever on.

i wouldnt worry too much about that. Set alligance works like this:
You need 51% of your guild to vote for 1 person other that your self. So if you have 100 people in your guild and 51 of them votefor somebody else then at the next check point thing (weekly, depending on when you set your guild up). Then he or she will become the guild leader. So unless your guild really hate you, you shouldnt have a problem of loosing leadership. hope this helps

As Stena stated, you should be fine and Stena also gave good examples of the system. As long as you reset your allegiance back to yourself there is really nothing to worry about. But, yes technically guild leaders can be over thrown but it takes more than half of the guild to do this.
For more information on the actual process, I'd ask you to read the guide "How to Change Guild Leaders" at the top of this forum.

Okay, thanks for the information. It's a little worrying that I could just get thrown out after all the work i've done, and scince I only play on the weekend it would be very easy for a group to plan it out. However I trust our members and I have not done anything that would make them made. I work hard and do everything I can to please every member, so it would greatly saden me if anything like that happened. I feel there should be a safe guard against this because a guild is not like a town because it is supposed to be a "group of friends" and, although members should have a voice, the original creator should not be able to lose all the work he/she has done. Well, thanks for the information. We are currently holding a huge recruitment contest and I'll have to work hard at gettting to know each memember.
One last question: Does the guild remove people if they have ended thier account, because I have a freind who restarted thier character and the old character dissapeared from the guild list. I always thought you had to do that manually.
Thanks again.

They will dissappear if the character is actually deleted, as does all their items / houses on the server itself. But that's the only way currently short of removing them. However, once they start doing the monthly character purges for 6 month and older inactive accounts it will happen more frequently.
I can say that most of the time, your guild is not going to try to boot you out of the guild as long as you are a guild leader. In other games this type of system was in place as well (Ultima Online) and never once did I see anyone try to steal a guild from someone else. So I wouldn't let it worry you at all, everything should be fine.

Alright, thanks, i'll put that worry aside. I've worked so hard on the guild and made it my main passion in the game, even ignoring my own professions so that's why i'm a little edgy
Thanks for letting me know about the character deleting thing, check my other forum because I need some recomendations on mass kicking of inactive players. Thanks again, oh, and if anyone has any other suggestions for a guild that is going on two months old and wants to really grow, let us know.

Just one thing to add to this, it may not be a 51% thing. As another example lets say 33% of the guild set allegence to you, another 33% sets it to another guild member and a third guild member gets the other 34%. Then you lose leadership and the person with the majority wins. What is true, is you need a minimum of 51% of the guild to vote for someone else before you get kicked as the leader, but it is possible to hold 49% and still maintain leadership.

Ack, now i'm worried again, We are getting a bunch of new members soon and what if they plan to take over??? Lol, I think I should settle down a little, but I still don't like this idea. A guild is not a town and there for the leader who has worked long and hard to create his/her guild should not have the possibility of it being stolen! However I doubt my members would do that to me, I do everything I can for them.

I wount worry about it mate for a few reasons: A) The terms are a pig's ear to use andB) Most ppl cant b bothered to unless you really annoy them but then they will proberly leave.
