I recently took control of my guild, since the two leaders could no longer play. The problem I have is that, although I control the structure, I am not the recognozed leader. Neither of the previous leaders removed themselves as leader and I have a lot of stale members in the list, so the "set alligiance" method is not working. do you have to be guildleader to boot someone from the guild? how exactly am I supposed to become leader in this situation? thanks.

Since you have a lot of inactives you're right, the set allegiance is probably out.

The ability to remove someone from the guild is a permission that can be set from the terminal. You may need to try to get the current leader to give you that permission(If they can log in to do so), that way you can remove the inactives and then set allegiance.. if they can't give you that permission, you may need to recreate the PA itself by leaving, then replacing the guild hall and creating a new one.

bummer. If the previous leader assigned you the privs to kick, then you can kick the inactives until your active member % rises above 50% and then hope the set allegiance thing works. If you pull up the PA hall and set it back down again, nothing will change on the terminal...it will still list the current leader as the boss. You would have to pull up the PA, resign from the guild and then create your own new PA with the active members (who would all have to resign from the current PA also to join you).

I know that there are guides on this, but i have read 3 or 4 of them with 5 pages of responses and have found nothing on my question, which is:
In order to elect the new PA leader everyone in guild has to set their alligence to this person
51% of the guild has to do this
But do the members have to ste thier alligence to the new leader everyweek, like voting is currently, or once you set your alligence is it set until that person become the PA leader?

Once a leader has been chosen, they will be the leader until there are enough votes for someone else that it changes.

Easiest way to do it is have the current leader resign (if possible) and the new leader only needs 1 vote (the majority). The ex-leader can then rejoin. And no, it is not an ongoing election cycle like a city has. PA forum should have good info in their stickied posts.

The voting resets every week, so if the vote doesn't go through in the first week you have to get everyone to set their allegiance again. I believe the votes are tallied on the anniversary of the guild being formed, but no-one ever remembers when this.

At 51%, the new leader will win. This is in no way tied to the cycles like a player city is. You only need to do this if/when you want to change guild leaders.

Q: What if I don't get 51% or a Majority by the next update? Do we have to start over?

A: If you are unable to achieve 51% or a majority of the vote by the time that the PA cycle updates (Once a week), then yes you will have to begin again. When undergoing a guild leadership change, try to express the importance of the voting to your members and urge them to do it quickly and hopefully you can avoid this situation.

That is from my guide stickied at the top of the forum "How to Change Guild Leaders aka Set Allegiance." I just edited it to be more clear. If you do not gain enough support by the time the guild updates then all voting is reset to the default leader and you must start all over again. You do not have to vote weekly for a leader, because once you have changed the leadership all votes will default to the new leader just like the old,

Have the leader drop out of the guild to make it easier until the new leader is in place.
