Thread: Transferred leadership to former leader with new publish bug?

This is a bit late here, but with the new publish did anyone else have their guild leadership transfer to a former guild leader?

I started a new guild on Eclipse a few months ago then transferred leadership shortly thereafter. I've kept my character there, but I have been playing on Tarquinas. The day of the new publish I logged into my Eclipse character and had an email stating guild leadership had been transferred to ME. The members decided to just have an election, since it for some reason was opened at the same time. When the election was over it did not transfer leadership to the winner. It stayed with me. I assume trying not to bother me, they disbanded the guild and picked up the gh & replaced it.

This isn't anything that needs attention on our end now...just wondered if this happened to any other guilds out there?

This is a very troublesome bug right now and the Devs are fully aware of it. It's on their list of things to get addressed. It's a problem with the entire election process and I believe it's causing issues in other systems as well. (A lot of multi-system effecting bugs around right now.)

Rothin, this bug is getting worse. I admit I got lazy and after turning off elections everyday for aout 2 weeks figured I would see what happened if I didnt do it. In less than 2 weeks, it turned the GL over to the prior leader. Who happened to be an alt of mine that I had closed several months previous. When this happened, I immediatly ran for the GL spot, and got votes. The guild system never sent an email out about my alt not logging in, but being a closed account, she couldn't and shouldhave resulted in the emails going out as well. Well to make matters worse, when the election came to pass.....Even tho I was the only one running and had votes, and even tho I had not logged the alt in at all. The election was awarded to the alt that had not logged in for months! She wasn't even registered to run!

This needs to be fixed. The one solution I was given to get the GL spot back doesnt even work.

Yeah, I completely understand the frustration. If I had the ability to fix it myself, it would have been done a long time ago. Unfortunately, all I can do is raise the issue with the devs and bring them examples of the issues so they can try to reproduce each one and then get it assigned to be fixed. It seems like there is a new issue with the elections process cropping up every other day so the problem is getting worse.

From what I was told at FF, there are also underlying issues with the guild system in general they are planning to fix in the near future which will help. The election issue though is something they are working on to get it fixed as quick as they can. I think they are hesitant to do another hotfix since all these issues came about due to one in the first place. (For those who don't understand, the last hotfix they pushed out was to fix a terminal bug that made it unusable if you didn't have a guild leader and that hotfix caused all these issues to start up with the election process. Hotifxes don't go through the normal QA process, they get rushed out to try to fix critical issues but can cause more issues than they solve. That's what happened in this case and most likely why we haven't seen another one. They'd rather test the fix than have it create more issues.)

I'll continue to push it, but I've been assured by them both in the Corr forums and at FF they know about it and are working on it. As I said, I wish I had the power to fix it now, but it isn't something I can do. We have to give them the time they need to fix it.

Question: Why can't they simply restoreour guild leader status for those that lost it? I am baffled that this immediate solution would take weeks or months to resolve. If I could at least run the guild....the larger issues would not be so critical.

Have you asked them if this is possible?

Yes, I did ask about why they couldn't just give guild leader back to those who have lost it, the tools they need to make that switch were never coded and put into the game. Not even the Devs can switch leadership. (In fact, Tiggs has been trying to get leadership of CPA on TC for a long time now but it is having the same problems and not even with dev commands can it be swapped.) The system was just never designed with the ability to do that in mind. I can only assume it was so that CSRs didn't get involved in guild politics when someone complained, but of course, I think it was a mistake because right now that would alleviate so many problems.

My guild had an *ugly* situation where the GL stopped playing and unsusbscribed her account completely. (this was under the alegience system) It left us in a real lurch because there was no way to get alegience away from a toon that was not going to exist, and we had no way to contact her once she left the game.

We wound up reforming completely with a new name and everything. The CS staff would not help us at all after explaining it all ad nasuem. They were useless.
