I'm the leader of my guild and have been playing that character fairly regularly over the past few weeks. I was logged in yesterday for example.
I logged in today and have a mail saying that my guild leader hasn't logged in for some time and thus guild elections are now open....huh?

This is the first I've heard of this, but as leader you can goto the guild terminal and deactivate the elections from the terminal itself. That should stop the elections from taking place.
I'll make a note to pass this on to the devs as a new bug.

Okay, this just happened to me as well. It looks like it's sending out the email, but the elections themselves are not starting. When I went to the guild terminal to disable them, they weren't even on at the time. So it appears the system just sent out the email.

Our election started (I registered to run 'just in case')

Did it actually start and allow people to register to run or did it just say it did in the email? Because I got the email for my own guild that said they started but they didn't ever enable. I went to the PA Hall to disable them and they were off. I even enabled and turned them back off to check.

Same thing happened here. I have logged in almost every day over the last couple of weeks, and got the mail today.

Just disable the elections and it will cancel them.

I'm not the leader ... just a member of the leadership council.
I registered since you said it looked like the election didnt start (I wanted to make sure it can get transferred back)
