Amiel,

PA wars are a way to be able to attack another enemy guild without having to duel or be overt. If you are at war with another guild (which takes consent from both sides) you will always be red to them. Therefore no need to go overt to get some PvP. Its actually quite cool. Only problem some of my guild members have is that some are griding holos and cannot do any entertainer professions without getting shot at. So expect some people to leave your guild temporarily. We have lost 2 so far.

The only bad thing about being overt to the other guild all the time is: They can camp the cloning centers, so it is better to make a terms of war agreement sort of thing. Most people that are out for a good time obey the rules. Such as: no attacking while in Meds, Clones, or Cantinas.

also, there's no such thing as an opt out.

in other words, it would be nice to have an opt out list-- a list of guild members who are tagged, but who are NOT participating in the guild war. currently, there is no way to protect your crafters or other non-combatants.

My guild has actually had to lay a second hall, complete with an alternate guildname (RoK-C, in our case), transfer all combatants to that guild, fight the guild war, then disband that guild and retag everyone with our core tag when done (and pick the extra hall back up).

this became common practice for several pvp heavy PA's on Kauri server. but, it's expensive (an extra hall), and a pain to accomplish (untag, tag, untag, tag).

Bit facetious I know, but RL wars are expensive, devisive and generally worse for non-combatants than for those doing the shooting....if this is being reflected on line I think the Devs deserve a lot of credit.

Re points about grinding out holos, I have some sympathy, but is this style of play really suited to PAs anyway?
