In the first guild I joined, <RAITH> on Kauri, I quickly became theirnumber one recruiter. I suggest that you find a group of players that you enjoy playing with, try and find around six that are willing to help fund the PA hall. After you have your core group organized recruitment is a matter of your own people-skills.

When recruiting for a new guild be certain to stress the fact that they will be "Geting in on the ground floor." This should make them a little less leary about joining a new guild if you can assure them that they will have a voice in how the guild is run. Another thing that I found to be helpful is describing what your long-term vision for the guild is. As a member of <RAITH> I would always mention to prospective new recruits that we were planning on issuing padded armor uniforms for the guild, at no cost to our individual members. Also describe what kind ofa guild you are forming, if you are focusing on PvP then say so. If you are going to establish a PvE orientated guild make sure to let them know that they will not be expected to PvP, but mention that PvP may be included as part of guild events.

These are just my suggestions as to how to successfully recruit for a guild, in my experience the best place to recruit new members is in a cantina or after hunts with unguilded players that you were groupd with and enjoyed fighting alongside.

I started a guild on Ahazi (Daedalus) about 6 weeks ago and it's been fun but it can be work. You'll need 5 players to start a guild and I would assign the other 4 playersresponsabilities to make your job easier.
Any guild under 25 players is easy to manage. But the more players you have, the more they will invite other playersand guild can grow out of control. If you allow very new players (playing under two weeks) expect to spend a lot of time answering tons of questions they could easily look up for themselves. We just teach them how to find the answers for themselves (you know, teach them to fish feed them for a life blah, blah, blah). But don't shrug off new players, we were all new once, and new players today can master elite professions in as little time as 6 weeks. We had one newbie that is now master artisan making houses and swoop bikes for the entire guild. Another is an armorsmith making killer composite armor at a serious discount.

Due to growth, we set a few rules that make it easier to manage the guild, restrict growth to a manageable pace and ensure that all current members have the opportunity to get the most out of the guild:

Our guildlines are:

  1. Allow only two new members each week. This allows the new new members to become familiary with veteran players and vice versa. Unless your goal is simply to be huge... but that won't be any fun.

  2. Allow anyone to sponsor members but still only accept two a week.

  3. Basic rules such as no lewd or sexual comments to female characters (or any character for that matter), taking advantage of new players (like selling aluminum for 6 cpu), racial slurs and basically anything that takes the fun out of the game for another player.

I'm actually out of time but our Web site lists some information that you might find helpful and possibly duplicate for your new guild.

Daedalus sucks. I am in it. They give you too much free stuff, and help you train in just about anything you could ever want. Hell, they even tried to get me a holo for free, but since no one could get one in the guild, they tried to get one from friends. These guys are evil. They even gave me a house. Bastards, only people looking for an awesome guild should join them. Geeks.
