Thread: Get your own guild message board!
I wholeheartedly agree. It's not always possible to get everyone in-game at the same time for a meeting, and many guilds often have members who have different play schedules, but having a message board for the guild allows everyone to check up and stay current with guild happenings at their own leisure.
It's also a great place to post recruitment information so prospective members can look you up before applying for your guild. Maybe your recruiting offiers aren't online to meet with someone - send them to the website to apply instead. Having your rules and expectations posted where people can read them ahead of time helps with quality control too. ![]()
No matter whether you customize your own script or use one of the many free services available online, taking the time to set up and maintain a guild message board is a worthy initiative for any PA leader to undertake.
Setting up message boards are great, but that's what ingame email if for.
You want to change the way you play SWG with your guild? then try teamspeak.org

Another venue you can use is www.ezboard.com
I've used the boards there for years in EQ. They're perfect for guild boards.
We have just redone our website (well one guy has really) to include forums & much more of my members are using it now. We also have a guest section (veiw only atm i think) & our recruitment advert is on the log in page.
These sorts of things are a great asset to any guild. We are currently thinking of organising a TS server for the guild too which may or may not work very well.
What Jascentia said about time frames hit the nail on the head. Any large guild (mine has over 125 members - I would say 80% active)will have members from various different timezones and/or different lifestyles which makes their online time very different. For example, TDV is a European guild mainly, so our timezone we work to as a guild is GMT (UK). We have many members in other countries in europe & in the states. A lot of people work during the day, so a good time to chack up on things is then & the forums help that. Some ppl have nightjobs etc.
Long & the short of it is this: If you want a successful guild - GET A WEBSITE WITH FORUMS!!
