Currently, I'm struggling between keeping the guild fun for current members as well as make it good for future members.I'm also trying to recruit new people but is growing to become a problem. Not many people who are unguilded are looking to join a guild (but some are nice enough to ask for more information before just no).So my guild isnt growing.I basicly have my idea planned out but like a person needs it's blood to continue on it's course, a guild needs it's members as well.
So after a small recruiting session i managed to get a couple of people but aside from that our rate of recruitment is very slow. What should i do to get more members and to make my guild more enjoyable for current members?
I recently asked for the opinion of my guild members in an e-mail(and also checking which ones are active players)It was yesterday i sent out that e-mail so i havent been able to read the responses today yet.But i would also like the advice of the veteran guild leaders that have more time and experience under their belts. What should I do?

Well from past experience I have a few suggestions and ideas.
1- Availabilty- If your the leader you need to around a certain amount of time. Preferable on some sort of routine schedule. Even if it is only every three days from 9 to 10pm. At least people know they can talk to you.
2- Events- A guild has to DO something. There is no point in being in a guild if the members never do anything together. Set a goal and find people who want help achieving that goal.
3- Recruiting- Slow is good. Fast means people who usually quit as they dont make friends and develop a sense of loyalty. The best way to get new people is to just look for people wanting to hunt with someone. DO NOT ask them to join right way. Hunt with them. See if they are willing to help, use good team work, etc. then if you seem to like them hunt with them again. Or whatever it was you did together.
If you liked them and you do things togethr a few more times invite them to a guild event. Dont ask them to join yet. Instead see how the other members react. Once you have established a friendship, see they work well with the rest of the guild, and seem to keep hanging out its a good bet not only will they join if you ask... they will become a great addition to your guild.

I have also noticed that in this point in the games life its hard to find unguilded players who are of the same faction. What I have done lately is to find where the new players are being dropped into the game world, and go there and recruit. First I make sure they arent on trial accounts, then I make sure they want to be in the faction I am in.
Keep in mind these are noobs fresh into the game, so I like getting a bunch at a time, and let them work together at leveling up, which keeps my babysitting at a minimum. I helped them get factioned and give them tips, then I keep pushing them to group toegther and hunt etc.
This will not impact your guild immediately, HOWEVER, it makes for a strong base in the future. Some will drop out, or quit etc. Those who stay will be worth the effort in most cases. Remember, we were all noobs once.
If you have a player city as I do, you will notice this will help your city grow as well. We made metropolis from the last recruting drive. And its nice to see the new faces around. I gave them each a house and a speeder if they didnt have one.
Hope this helps ya, and good luck!

One thing that i've found is to do things together as a PA. Like raids, hunts. or events. When other players see you participating in something as a team they become interested in what your PA is about.
Also remember that PAs are not for everyone. SWG allows a great number of players to solo where most other games like this almost requires a guild to achomplish things.
Most of all......
Don't concentrate some much on getting new recruits that you draw your attention away from your current membership. The core players that you have in your PA atm will shape the PA of your future.
Hope this helped a bit

I find that one of the best ways to get new recruits is taking care of the ones you have! When you keep the ones you have happy then they talk and when they talk others get interested. At first it will be slow, but as your members start talking about the things you do and how you take care of them then things will start to move at a good pace so be prepared.
Take care of the ones you have and they in turn will take care of you.

The only way to make a guild grow is to have a well known leader. My guild has one of the better Pvper in Wanderhome and people flock to us. We also have brought in smaller guilds because they were diying off. It's word of mouth and reputation. If you have 1337 Pvpers you can get a nice guild. Again another example. An Imperial leader from our brother guild left and turned rebel. Because he was so well known and a strong fighter he arosed intrest and his guild blew up in size in 1 week and now in his 2nd week they have a lvl 3 city. The guild is 2 weeks old but because of the leaders repuation it expanded.
So inshort make aname for your self before you start a guild.

One idea is to have a membership dirve. If you have 20 members and send a guild e-mail about a membership drive and request that each member find at least one other person, your guild could grow very fast. However, that's not really a good thing... new members may not have time to get acclimated tothe guild and may not get the attention they need to become familiar with everyone and you'll lose some.
We set a goal to grow by 2 members a week, this does not rush us and now we are almost at our voted cap of 50. Over time we recruit new members and kick out those that left the game. It's worked extremely well and the 45 players we have are all very active...
A good web site helps too with recruitment. Your web site can help sell the guild.

Rubbish! I'm a former leader (we have 3 month terms) of one of the oldest guilds on Scylla. We've recently experienced a growth spurt, and it's because we've got our players out and talking to people, rather than any one knowing me or our current leader.
Getting your players active, and doing things together will get you more players more quickly than the leader's reputation. A guild has be be based on more than just a leader's rep/playstyle, or the guild, IMO, will eventually fail. What if the guild leader stops playing? if you're not based on more than just the leader's rep, you'll most likely have issues...
