Thread: Time zones an issue
We have guild members from several time zones too, countries including Ireland, England, Scotland, Canada, Korea (she plays early)and all USA.
Any official guild activities would be on the weekend at a time where all players can participate. Or, just hold two events each favoring one time zone or the other (in our case, one for Euro-DAED and one for USA-DAED).
I might also suggest assigning a leader for each major time zone group and have them responsible for recruiting more members in their time zone (rather than split into two guilds). You might eventually have 10 from australia and 10 from the United States.
There are a few advantages to having guild members in various time zones. First, you'll have someone representing your guild more hours in the day and that's helpful if you have a factional base to raid or defend.
Whoops, I forgot to mention you can also set up a message board (Forum) to enhance communication. We never had offcial guild meetings and never saw the need. Most of our issues are discussed on the guild message board.
There are numerous FREE message boards or low-cost message boards available. Take a look at some other guild Web sites for ideas as the free ones usually have a link to their Homepage. The message board system we use is at www.proboards.com. It's free if you allow the banner ads (no pop-ups) and only $6.99/ month to have the ads removed.
I'm not pitching Proboards it's just the one I am familiar with. you can also do a search on your favorite search engine for "free message boards".
Hey, a great idea might be for SWG to offer FREE mesage board system for player associations. No in-game programming involved!
