A faction perc of having larger ships is an outstanding idea. I know space expansion is not exactly the topic of discussion at the moment, but the idea of imps and rebel guilds having such large ships is really something I would like to see. Just imagine flying as a group or guild in a large rebel ship and encoutering an imperial star destroyer. A few members on the opposing guilds are dispatched into short-range ships like x-wings and tie fighters. The rest of the individuals on both sides each work as teams to control and combat with the large ships. The very idea is making me drool.

TH, thus far I think the vast majority of our topics to datehave centered around issues which are not related to any faction. This topic just happens to be factional. I will be making another topic on my consolidated ideas for a Guildwar Revamp which would impact pvp for every PA.

A PA Faction Point "treasury" would be a fantastically usefull thing. provided only say, the PA Leader can access it as opposed to any admin, otherwise devs will see it as a getaround for the FP transfer penalties

I agree with this idea completly a way for the PA to pool there faction points such as a treasury type system would be excellent. I bleive you would see more faction bases pop up near faction aligned PA's thus escilating the GCW.

1. How does a PA become aligned to a faction? What is required?

Declaring and giving a large amount of FP (5000) is needed.

Can a PA ever lose its factional status?

Yes - if FP reach zero and it is not redeemed within a certain timeframe then you should lose status.

2. What sort of perks would be available to factional PAs, at what cost?

Shouldn't be able to place any faction base in a city without being a factional PA.

Should have the ability to funnel FP to other Factional PA's at a cost of25% (for example) of the FP.

Crafters should be able to gain FP byproducing special weapons, armour, food\drink andbuffs\medicene packsmade with Factional Schematics in the PA hall. These items should have a direct effect on theNPC factional soliders in thier base making them harder to beat and possibly determining which class's they are. Entertainers should be pretty much the same except they should have special dances/songs to keep the soliders upbeat. FP's in this regard should be gained when an NPC they have supplied killed aImperial PC (and to lesser extent npc) not just dancing or crafting for them - sort of like UXP. This ability should also apply to the funneling ideabut at agreater cost (for factional PA's that don't want to be PVP haven).

3. What would you NOT want to see in a factional PA system?

Forcing guilds overt.

One thing to add to the FP treasury idea:

Allow all PAs to purchase Mission terminals appropriate to their factioned status (Neutrals could have the typical mission terminals, each faction could have their own factioned terminal) and allow the PA leader to set a 'tax' on both the credit and faction payout of missions that is channeled to the credit treasury or faction treasury.

This would allow PA members to rack up faction for their PA and get some for themsleves at the same time, without worrying about some kind of delegation system.

A faction point treasury would be awesome. Coordinaing donations of FP for guild projects is such a pain in the keister.

I also think that factional PA Halls should function a lot more like bases, with the option to donate turrets and the like. Unlike a base, they could not be destroyed. Maybe the level of defense/features of a Factioned PA hall could be linked to the number of factioned members or be bought with faction points. So a huge player association with say 200+ members would be able to build a solid fortress, complete with large turrets(subject to destruction, like base turrets are now), covering all approaching angles of fire, with built in faction detectors (which would not "overt" members of the PA that owns the hall, if possible), Spawning Stormtroopers, AT-ST's or large numbers of Rebel commandos(give these guys some heavy weapons), protected by mines and not subject to raid/destruction. A small factioned PA hall might have a recruiter, faction mission terminal, and a few hopeless guys who spawn every now and then. Both halls, would of course proudly display banners indicating their faction. This would give factioned player cities some serious defensive military power, something that is seriously lacking in the GCW right now,

This would allow a PA to have a safe place to meet, prepare for raids/hunts, craft and hang out that is fortified and not subject to being destroyed. Right now, Player halls are not very useful and this might make them more so. Also, if they are going to continue to occupy 9 lots and have as much space in them as they do, they should have an item limit of at least 1000, so that they can be useful as storage areas, be properly decorated, have living quarters and storage for the poor soul who has sacrificed 9 lots for the building, et...

The first step will be brainstorming! Here are some questions to consider:

1. How does a PA become aligned to a faction? What is required? Can a PA ever lose its factional status?

New Factional PA Halls should be available thru recruiter. Similar to bases but being purchased with credits, not Faction Points. The PA Hall can only be purchased and placed by a Colonel of the Faction. I do not know how or if the current game mechanics would be able to do this but, only a person who is a member of the faction can join the guild, his or her Rank would also be displayed with thier name on the guild roster. If for some reason you lost your faction affiliation you would be automatically removed from the guild. The only way a PA would lose its factional status is if there were no members of the faction left in the guild. If the Leader (person who placed the Factional Guild hall ever left, leadership would automatically be transfered to the next highest ranking officer, which must be atleast a Major. If there are several members with this rank, the Guild would have to vote for the new Commanding officer.

2. What sort of perks would be available to factional PAs, at what cost?

Similar Perks as the Detachment Headquarters Faction Bases.

- Faction recruiter
- Factional mission terminal
- Standard mission terminal
- Bank terminal(s)
- Insurance terminal(s)
- Acts as medical center (no auto-healing)
- Acts as cantina
- Registers on planetary map
- Allows declared & registered doctors, dancers, and musicians to receive elite profession faction perks

- Crafting Stations which would allow crafters of the guild to craft Factional items such as furniture, Armor, Uniforms, ect.......

- Also random spawning defenses, AT-ST's, Darktroopers, Stormtroopers, Officers.

- Factional Management Terminal where Guild Members can donate Faction Points to the Guild with the Colonel transfer penalty (1:1/18) regardless of Rank. Can only be withdrawn by the PA Leader for Large Guild purchases.

- Factional Purchases by Guild members from their recuiter would give an additional discount (5-10%)

- Multi level like Detachment Headquarters. With Medical Facility, Cantina (officers club), Large Meeting Hall, Common area (with Recruiter, Bank, Mission Terminals, ect...).

3. What would you NOT want to see in a factional PA system?

Would not want to see members being forced to always be overt.

*** Please consider the current development systems in game when writing your responses. For example, it may be easier to give PAs some flavor of faction perks that are already in game and buy them from existing faction recruiters than creating entirely new perks and special PA recruiters. Asking for additions or tweaks vs. asking for whole new developmentcan mean the difference between getting something and getting nothing. Completely new development is absolutely needed in some areas, but we should be selective about where we ask for it. ***

I am with you on 99.4% of the recommendations. However:

The +/- balance... Lots of '+' discussed, not much '-'. I do NOT think that forcing all members Overt is a good Idea AT ALL (besides the cost in CPU bandwidth to keep track of that) But...

How about "Upkeep"? Say, a cost of 10K to declare, and 5K/month to maintain...

The "Extras" would be one-time charges.

----

Banners:

OK, I like the banner THOUGHT... it is "cool." However, it hits about 0.00 on the reality scale for rebels. Can you honestly imagine a REBEL hall hanging a banner out? Darth and co. would commence bombing runs about 27.54 seconds after it unfurled.

How about: with the cost of a LARGE amount of FP, you could submit a design to "The Devs/Artists" that adhered to some specifications (colors, file format, dimensions, etc...) which would become your "mark"... it would appear on all your "stuff" (such as Banners,Uniforms, vehicles, saddles, [and the side of your ships/fighters/AT-ST's/etc...) perhaps, for more FP, you could add a tiny Icon, with the same design,to place after your PA member's Guild title (a-la-legacy)

That way, the "special banner"ness would remain, but the "We're hanging up a target" feeling would be gone.

Would this "overwhelm" the devs? not sure. How many Large PA's are out there? I think that, if the "rules" for submission were specific enough, all that would be required is looking at the design from a "standards/decency" perspective (No ***edited be me*** flapping in the breeze) then it could be added during the next server load (this would be a BIG job to initially code.... you'd need to re-skin some game objects ... but it CAN be done. [many games allow the selection of "clan marks" from a LARGE selection.... so it's possible]

1. I'd like to see a weekly vote on this much like the system used to vote for mayors.

2. I'd like numerous things

  • Faction Recruiter placed in the PA Hall

  • Banners inside and outside

  • An FP Treasury

  • Perhaps a guild paycheck depending on how many opposing faction members its members has killed (this works the opposite way as well, you get deducted money if your deaths are greater than the kills.)

  • Registry on the World Map

3.A forced overt status for declared guilds

1. Yes, a vote similar to the mayor would be good

2. This idea has already been said, but want to back it up: have it so faction bases are placed by mayor and take no lots.

3. forced overt

I posted the following in the GCW forum but have put it here at Jascentia's request also:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=135841

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm suggesting this in the GCW forum simply because I think this relates to the heart of what it is.

As long as alligned PAs are being considered; I'm thinking it should work something like the following (but we should all put in a few ideas and hope TH and them take a look at it):

1) The PA hall itself, since it's factional, should be purchased using Faction Points for installations at a Recruiter. The PA hall would then not only act as a PA hall but also a Player Base. With the exception that I don't necessarily think a Factioned PA hall should be able to be destroyed by the opposite faction simply because it could cause way too many problems for players across the board. Instead, I'm thinking, the PA hall would have the HQ function in that it acts as your PA hall for your PA members... but mainly just gives your PA immediate access to a Factional Recruiter/Mission terminal where ever you plop it down at. Another exception being that one would not necessarily have to have a player town to place the Hall in. *not sure if this is how it works with the other factional installations since I've only seen them in player cities or within their borders*

2)Obviously, one would have to be declared to to purchace the PA hall, this just helps reinforce the idea that you are actively pursuing a Factional PA. Be proud, sport your colors.

3)This is the tricky part, well not so tricky, but in order for you to add a member to your PA then... they'd have to already be alligned with that faction. Hense the recruiter being a functional part of the Faction PA hall. It won't allow for Nuetrals in your guild this way. And on the bonus side, since it would be there, the recruiter and the mission terminal makes it easier for non-alligned *friends* to quickly join the guild. -the coding for this could be tricky though-

4)This goes without saying but if you quit the faction you effectively quit the guild as well.

5)Perhaps Factional PA Halls should have more room to put items given their *military* nature as well. They literally will have to serve as a HQ afterall.

This is all I can think of at the moment; but, please, do add any ideas to this.

The Lunatic Fringer

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now with the above idea, I've already heard that the recruiter could be a bad idea because it'd give the guild the option of basically endlessly going overt again at the PA hall while under attack. I've also got feedback on it should be just as opt to be destroyed in raiding as any other factional building. My thoughts were leaning more towards a PA shouldn't have to worry about their PA hall being destroyed if only maybe one member or no members are online and a group of the opposite faction gets a little gutsy... that's a little unfair to the attacked PA.
